Hi all,
I'm in southern Michigan. I got a Tyco Spirit of 76 over and under back in 1975, when I was 5 years old. I still have it. My Dad set me up a 4x8 layout with green outdoor carpet on it. We moved three years later, and I haven't had a permanent layout since. So, this winter, I finally set up my first real layout. It's not quite done yet, but I took some video of my old gal (the spirit of 76) that I thought you might like to see. Here is the youtube link:

I really like Tyco, as it is what I had as a kid, and so that is what I collect. I figured I'd start with the Spirit of 76 line. I have most of the spirit of 76 line of engines and cars. All I need yet are the blue and white first edition box cars (got the red one - minutemen for $10.00 at a local hobby shop). When I saw it and the price of only $10, my hand shot out like lightning. The store owner then realized that he must have under-priced it. But, frankly, I doubt if there is anybody else in this town that would have known what it was...

Tony - nice video and layout. I guess you have seen all of my Spirit of 76 vidoes and collection of 76 i have posted on here . I can tell you -the first issued boxcars -especially the solid blue and red can be hard to find and pricey. I have seen recently with in last couple of weeks some listed. Ebay is loaded as of this post with Tyco items and some are at great prices. Welcome to the forum. Look forward to seeing more of your Tyco's.

Brian,
yes, I have seen and very much enjoyed / appreciated your videos on Spirit of 76 identification, etc. Very helpful.
I saw the solid blue first issue boxcar on e-bay a couple weeks ago and lost it at the last second. I'm still trying to figure out that confounded single-click bidding. I've tried having multiple pages of the item open simultaneously so I can see what's going on with bidding while I am confriming bids or single-clicking. I hate that. Next time, I'm just going to go for broke and fork out a god-awful maximum bid and get the darn thing and stop playing around! haha.
I'll post more videos of Tycos running in the layout when the layout is more "presentable". It's largely unfinished (aren't they all?).
With kind regards,
Tony

I use a software called Justsnipe. It will save you some dough and is faster and easier than 1 click bid.
SSSSH!
You did not hear this from me.
