A Union Pacific steam turbine came into Bergen Point for maintance at the Frankford shops of the PGWrr. A complicated drive system of this 1960 Balboa locomotive is a challenge for the shop personnel. This high horsepower loco is needed and must be repaired and back before Thursday morning. * A shorted electrical drive has caused this beauty to stop running. Also a non aligned dual drive system could be causing a lot of noise. Will get back to it again today. frank

Using a tender temporarily borrowed from switch engine number 82, Tabor and Waldo Railroad's Prairie number 51 pulls the rolling pipeline (tank train) onto the highline above Batey Hollow. 51 awaits a new tender after the locomotive was rebuilt, while the tender was not suitable for rebuilding.

A veteran covered gon winds its way down Raton Pass (model by Moose Yarbrough, who earns his daily bread professionally weathering railroad models and flipping them on Ebay. Every model has an extant prototype, and is weathered exactly to it).
An IC box follows not far behind (another Moose creation).
WKS putters by in his Model A ("Trains and More" layout in Riudoso, NM). He is wondering how the street lamp escaped Walt's attention.

The bottom tier photo of that Burlington unit is exceptional. The snow swirling as it powers through the drifts, the harsh winter sun; that one needs to be on a Tyco calendar for January.
