Hey Buss. How are you. I wish it to be fine. I can see that your wants list has expanded to Autoloaders. I think recently I have read a post where you mentioned a train show coming up soon, and your hope of finding a Tyco UP passenger set. I do wish you luck. I cannot keep up with your ever expanding wish list. Documentation of this list for me is imposable. Somewhere in the immense scattering of information you have posted here on Tyco forum is a whole lot of , " I want one of those" . I would imagine that other Tyco forum readers would like to know if it is possible, if you have something you dont want. This would eliminate a few thing. I do enjoy you brief but pointed posts. You do say alot with a few, words. Dont stop now ! Again good luck with your hunt at the upcoming train show. frank

* Here is a video of a Life like P2000 F3A pulling a very old Penn Line passenger train around my layout. During each loop the train goes through 8 switches. You would think with the large flanges that the train would bounce around when going through the frogs. the old train stays stable and runs smooth. * Everytime I watch this vedio I go to answere my phone. frank

Today a rebuilt CNJ snow blower-plow is out of the shop and getting a test run. Spring is ending. Summer is almost here and maintance must be done. Better now when the track isn't covered with 3 feet of snow. Snoopy P.
** Train is seen here as it would be used in bad weather.

** Here a closer up look at MofW 172.

** You can see the CNJ GP7 #1520, the pussher assigned to the test today

* I escaped from my Reading C1 project and faced the MDC problem with 80 foot plus passenger cars with a flexible Talgo coupler arm. I am working with the long Pullman Palace cars. The spring thing builders are to use on these cars are unreliable. Most of the time they do nothing and the arms just float around. I spoke with other modelers and they all said the same think. " Body mount the couplers. This to me seems wrong due to the length of the cars and that they have to go around curves and thro switch tracks. There response was try it. ** Ok I did a quickie to two spare place car floors. I had no spare set of MDC trucks but two pair of 3 axel Athearn passenger trucks . The ones for the standard cars with round and cresatory roofs. Well the Talgo truck arms had to go. I buzzed the 4 off with a rotary circular saw. These trucks had no wheel sets so to the spares and on they went. I used some 36" P2000 replacement axels. The trucks rolled well. Next the Athearn don't mount the same as the MDC ones. Drilling out the mounting hole to a clearance size for the Athearn truck fixed this. A thin washer helped to give some clearance for the truck to move side to side once mounted. I drilled and mounted the Kadee coupler pockets with horn hook X2F couplers. Weighted the car floors and put a engine in front. Then came the test. On the circular main lines , no problem. I switch them thro a open yard section giving them the best test my layout could do. This loop had the cars being pulled thro 7 switches. 2 straight thro and 5 switched. The other guys it seems were right .As long as you run thro #6 switches and the tightest curve of 18" it works. You can't use #4 switches. *** Now folks. I went back to the layout the next day. And it derailed every time. This is not a reliable way of mounting couplers on long passenger cars. Now I did something and it worked. Everyone who owns a Athearn RDC knows how Athearn solved this problem. Well that was on RDCs. Will something similar work on a Pullman Palace car. Well it did. I did it today. MY first is done. Maybe not perfected but done. *-*-* Now the question is how long will it work

Here is a better photo of the Pullman Palace cars coupler. I am thinking of using a longer coupler arm. It will lessen the angle of the box. Saveing a few disconnects. frank

Some small Camelbacks on the storage tracks at Frankford Roundhouse . The biggest advantage of a wooten firebox is its ability to burn culm. The waste product of prossed coal. There are mountains of it at coal mines. Cheep fuel. toptrain
