* Hyde, It is good to see young people modeling. You can learn a lot from electro-mechanical skills, to electronics, carpentry, metal working, and just having some fun. I glad you enjoy the things you see here. * I would like my photos to be more interesting but like I posted while building this current layout. It is only big enough to run 2 trains continualy and have a few places to photograph my trains.
* The difference between a 65 year old and a 15 year old, is the 65 has had more years to prefect being a little boy.

About CNJ #634. * It is a CNJ class L3s. A 4-6-0 center cab camelback. * You may be wondering what a non Brooks built camelback is doing on the Central of New Jersey. The 3 cab windows speak loudly of the Reading and Lehigh Valley . They look identical to Readings L5s. Why is the Brooks curved top, placed to the rear window missing on this locomotive. Well it should look like that, because they are not Brooks Built. Not even of CNJ design. * #634 was built by the Reading railroad. Five locomotives were purchased from the Reading w hen they became excess there. The Reading had just put in service the its G1 pacific. These locomotives became more valuable as a sale item. The Reading sold 5 L5s camelbacks to the CNJ. They were numbers 592 to 596. These numbers were already used on the CNJ so could not be kept. If you remember CNJ #592 , a 4-4-2 Atlantic Camelback is preserved at the B&O muesum at Baltimore Ma. The CNJ renumbered them 631 to 635. I choose number 634. They classified them as L3s. *#634 is a locomotive of the CNJ that will forever be tied to Bayonne, my home town. 634 was wrecked here at 8th Street station. August 2nd 1946. Something occurred. A signal was missed ? A train because of a unscheduled stop was not switched over to another track to allow it to bypass the stopped train ? A wrong siginal sent to 634 ? I dont know ! It happened ! Many were injured and one, the Fireman, died. Their was no future for this engine. It was dissassembled before the end of August at E-port. toptrain

Frank, How many stalls is your roundhouse? It looks GREAT! I have a half circle to build for my engine facility.....Then I have my custom made turntable as well! Which well, I have some repairing to do as its not in the layout yet and my cat had played "Catzilla" and broken a few small pieces of it but nothing serious....
I'll have to get pictures of all this when I have a chance, as none of it is in the layout yet.... As I have to finish building the bench work for it all!
I'll admit, I LOVE engine serice facilities....One of my favorite places in real life to snap pictures, and the same goes for the models!

John, I have 2 roundhouses. One has 8 stalls, the other 3. I have 20 storage tracks radiating off of the turntable. Starting on the left and going clockwise are 5 open storage tracks. Then the 3 stall roundhouse. Next 3 more open storage tracks, Then the 8 stall roundhouse. Last 1 single open track for storage. frank

Frank, VERY nice! I had to go back and follow through what you had said with the description of the roundhouses and the storage tracks to the pictures you have posted.....VERY nice layout on the structures and storage tracks, and leads....
Another question what type turntable you using? It looks like one of the older Kibri kits or one VERY similar....

Excuse me for my lack of attention here, but I just noticed that your Reading #110, is a Jubilee, NOT an Atlantic!
Where on earth did you find the rear truck to fit under that locomotive or is that factory that way? At first glance, it looked to be a 4-4-2, and instead, its a 4-4-4.....
NICE! Now another question on this locomotive Frank, is that true to life prototype on that locomotive to have "inside" trailing truck bearings, or did you make it that way for lack of outside bearing truck frame?

He is the one who finished my Baldwin Babyface A&B for me. The 2 decapod camelback bodies are completely scratchbuilt. He makes his own castinge for the cabs and the boiler backheads. you can see some of it in this photo. frank

He does amazing work, Frank. Not just on the loco work and detailing, but the cinder-blackened ballast and rail rust look just right. The natural outdoor light really helps fool the eye, too.

I love that roundhouse! It looks pretty sweet! I wish I had the space for one, not yet sadly!

I know. E. J. & E. bought the A-B-B-A Demonstrator Set.
John
I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?
