Ok loco is coming out Ok, and I started on tender. It is a little over 3/4 " shorter. It is just glued together and no gap filling done yet. Proportions look OK. It will a nice Cameback tender. Those pieces laying on the table are what got cut out of the tender. frank

** Doing research on these camelbacks is a time consuming thing. Looking for information on details for some things is easy, for others impossible. To get info on the interior of a CNJ camelback is not the easiest thing to do. There is none out there. The best I could do is call up a photo from North east rail of a owned photo and view it. Drawing out as much of the foggy information gained looking through a cab window. For the I-5, I will put some detail in this cab area. it won't be scale, and I am at times making thing up. I am using things from my parts as much as possible, so some things will be not so HO scale. Trying to match or make parts for this is expensive also. Cal Scale valves, and you get 4 of them, HO scale are $5.90. So 2 packs are almost $13.00. More details yesterday cost me $42.00. Plus a 1 hour drive each way to a hobby shop. The hidden things like gas and tolls. Never mind all the other stuff up to now. * I put about 5 hours into the I-5 today. At least I still think it will come out Ok. I have my fingers crossed. frank

Hey Buss. The Gt box is a Lionel. GN cattle car is also Lionel. The trailer is either a cox trailer or a copy of one. The CB&Q is a parts engine.

Nelson in 1922 the D&H RR developed their own booster truck. It may have been the first. It looks alot like steves. The first one was put on a 2-8-0 camelback tender. Locomotive number 901.

Ken the Roundhouse ones are more main line than the Kadee. Kadees are backwoods type. You cant just take some logs and tie them to a pair of trucks and go on the mainline with rope or chains holding everything together. I still like the Kadee for proper appearance for loggers. You can tie any size gog to them. Roundhouse only holds up to a certain size, About 5 or 6 inch. frank

Today received from Railspec. First is A Winton 2-6-6-6 missing front pilot truck, all main rods, all valve gear, tender, body doesn't mount to drive, steam pipe connection to rear set of cylinders. I am sure other stuff. All in all still looks OK! Second Locomotive, Custom Brass, FP45 need front pilot repair. A Burlindton locomotive. Third loco, Atlas, PRR FP45, front platform broken off. Forth is a Rivarossi USRA 0-6-0, banged up. No tender! fifth is a Aristo-Craft CB&Q 0-4-0. No tender! None of these have been check if drives are running. None are running at this time !

That's a HAUL!
I got a Challenger sort of like that D&H one you pictured about a year ago..... the tender is a GREAT base model to make it a brass B&O KB-1 tender......The Challenger, well, that's what it is gonna be a KB-1, "2-6-6-4" wheel arrangement, on the B&O, was an ex. Seaboard locomotive.

* John good luck with your conversion. I 'm not doing to much anymore. with the trains in the attic and no AC up there I just stay down stairs and spend time on the computer and take pictures of my trains. The English trains are back on the layout but to hot to run trains. It is raining right now and the attic is cool. My friend Bob came over and I work on a brass USRA 0-6-0 for him and got it together and running. He's going to make it a CNJ 0-6-0 switcher. It should look good for he is good with his air brush.

** I got some trains yesterday from my friend Charlie. It was a visit which became ride around while Charlie was completing his wife's to do list. We went here and there dropped off stuff. Even had lunch. A nice day. ** Here are the trains. * Penn Line F7A Southern Pacific # 5925 Bloody Nose paint. Not a SP fan but a Penn Line one. Athearn 3 dome tank, all metal, Union Tank Car Co. UTLX 267. You dont see too many Athearn metal cars anymore. Athearn 1 dome tank car, all Metal, Shell Oil Co. SCCX 2004. Again another metal car. Silver Streak, Tank car, Matheson Alkali Works. GATX 1040. in original box. A cannadate for COTW. Mantua, all metal gondola kit, original box. Mantua all metal flat car. Crown OK PRR Gondola # 357765 great condition, all original with sand load. Riva Rossi USRA 0-6-0 CB&Q, loco only. Parts loco. Athearn 5 window caboose with extra detail, ATSF #1997. Large tender body for the Winton 2-6-6-6 and a 4 wheel truck. Old Time, full baggage car, Made in Japan, International. With second parts car missing one side and roof. And a third parts car with only car floor, ends, and trucks. With the parts I have gotten previously I think I can put 3 cars back on the rails. Gonna make radial roofs for them so they look like old PRR baggage cars I have seen in a lot of old 1860 to 1880 photos. A bunch of other use full parts.

Ken I will never win the guy who dies with most trains. I wont be even in the running. Their are folks here that put me to shame. Ken, you yourself have a lot, and quality trains. I would like to find another Winton for parts. I sure need enough. When I think about what I can do with it and all these ideas fill my head. A few are pretty stupid but may actually work. it is what things look like when all together that counts.

I am back from the Wayne NJ train show. Maybe there were 10 HO dealers in a mainly Lionel O and Flier S train show. Those 10 dealers had many things I would have gotten, if when I looked in my pocket, money was there. One dealer had a collection of 1956 to 59 trains. At least 10 maybe 0ne less International brass locomotives. All unbuilt kits in original boxes. He had a large collection of Fleischmann from that time. Cars were in original boxes. He had 4 boxed sets. Two were fleischmann, one was the HObbyline Lehigh Valley passenger set, the forth set I cant remember what it was. He had a unboxed Santa Fe HObbyline set with a FM H-10-44 lowery diesel, Rock island silver box car, L&N flat car with 2 wood loads and a caboose, red, that Had HObbyline printed on it. Boxed penn line cars and the small diesel boxed. He had many other boxed unbuilt kits. Laconia, Roundhouse, HObbyline, Central valley, Aries models, gondolas flats and hoppers by Selley, Lots of stuff. The only thing he had I got was a Rivarossi Southern Pacific 4-4-2 #3000, the same one as sold in 1957 by Lionel. photo of my stuff from the show. frank
