My LOTW this week will be my TYCO Santa Fe C430. Sadly it's only a parts unit, as the MU-2 Motor is wrecked beyond repair. None the less it's still a nice looking unit.

It was a fun build but produced a poor running loco. One day I will go back and fix it's issues... one day.

Pound for pound, the switcher is a delightful and innovative piece.
The decals on all your units appear to have been done with
silk screen- they are immaculate. The switcher did run for
about 20 yards before stalling out, but I am sure a little tweak
will set it right.

One of the benefits of living in Milwaukee Wisconsin is having Walthers in the neighborhood. While anyone with internet access can order directly from Walthers, you need to be within driving range to visit Walthers "Terminal Hobby Shop" which has its own unique special perks. Top of the list of perks is the "Scratch and Dent" shelves. Like the name implies, this is where Walthers sells otherwise perfect merchandise that had the misfortune of having damaged packaging or minor shipping damage.

Well today I stopped by Walthers and found in their "Scratch and Dent" shelves this beautiful Santa Fe PA from Walthers MAINLINE series. Even nicer was the fact that due to a damaged corner on the box , it was marked down from $240.00 to just $143.99. Needless to say I could not pass up on that deal, especially for a model as handsome as this one....

Complete with DCC and sound, this model was quite the bargain!!
Now I just need some nice Santa Fe passenger cars for it to pull!!

PS: This is one of my favorite pictures of a prototype Santa Fe PA, it was taken during their public debut in September 1946.

Aw, hope it eventually can be improved, the little critter sure has character.
