I just lost my footing again . . . more quads.

An L&N “Dixie Line” by Bachmann:

A “Pretty in Pink” quad with a livery that belongs on a more modern covered hopper, also by Bachmann:

And I’ve been wanting this one for a little while- Manayunk Mining & Smelting, by AHM:

Yay!!!!!  This bad boy looks mint too!

So now, the C&O version is the only one I’ve yet to find.

Not to "piggyback" on gmoney's reply, but...

Great collection, busss!

Love the MP Santa Fe tractor-trailer on-a-flatcar.

thanks I wanna find the US Mail truck now
there is a camo one as well

oh yeah here are the bottoms of the Tyco & Athern trailers

as you can see the Athern landing gear is slightly higher than the Tyco one
Plus they don't fold in like the Tyco ones do
and the hole where the hitch goes is sealed but am sure with a drill you could open it

I have been slack in updating this thread; I got this swag at the same TCA show where I got the two rare BN boxcars that I posted back on December 9th.

First up - a couple of Lionel HO 40ft Hi-Cubes:

I have several Tyco Pulpwood flats lettered for The Southern Railroad that I’ve had for forty-something years.  Never thought of them or the Chattanooga version as anything special, but I had never seen the green Great Northern version until my visit to the TCA show.  Now I have a green one:

Now I have to make sure I have the Chattanooga version too!

Now here is one that must be a promotional item - I’d never seen it before, in person or online.  Since it has MMP reporting marks, maybe it was produced by Mantua Metal Products and not Tyco?  Anyway, here it is:

One more for my collection of promotional boxcars!

Here are two versions of the final livery Tyco used for its Santa Fe 50ft plugger:

The top one I already had; the bottom one I got at the TCA show.  So now I have every version of the Santa Fe 50ft plug door boxcar Tyco produced . . . I think!

"Collecting promos. Never knew that was a "thing." How cool is that?!" - Chops

When I was a kid, I thought the department store, Christmas and other novelty cars were a waste of paint and a good shell. Now I find several of those in my collection!

Is there a thread for such things? If not I will start one so as not to derail this thread too much.

DONE!

I attended a train show in Asheville, NC for the first time, and…

The quad hopper obsession continues!

This B&M is an AHM by Roco:

These two are also AHM offerings:

Both are from Taiwan, but not from the same tooling!

Here is my second example of the Virginian lettering intended for the operating hopper being misapplied to the Virginian quad hopper:

This one I did not get in Asheville this past weekend; I just had never gotten around to posting it in this thread.

This one intrigues me:

The tooling is definitely the old Tyco tooling, because the Tyco brake wheel with its tiny mounting pin fits!  Comparison of
corner steps, ladders, rivet detail, etc. also confirms this.  However, the “Tyco” mark has been milled away, and Tyco
never produced this road name.  There is no other manufacturer’s mark on it though, so I don’t know who produced it.
There must be others out there though, and now I’ve got to find them!

Merry Christmas y’all!

A Tyco seasonal car from 1977.  Dig that silly-looking horn!  Another one for the promotional collection I guess.

At the Asheville show I found my third example of the correctly lettered Tyco Burlington Northern boxcar:

I’m beginning to wonder just how rare these actually are…

Nice grabs, G Money. Variants aside, I am told the Green BN was the most common of all Tyco trains, NH being
a close second.

Not Tyco, but I fell hard for this girl:

Discussion raged as to who made it; the consensus being it was an Athearn.

I have my doubts that Athearn made anything with filled in corner steps. The tooling looks like Tyco (mounting
bosses for the electronic chug hardware inside the shell would confirm that), but I agree Tyco didn’t make it.
I believe IHC acquired the tooling?
