My Mantua Geep...mangled in the Post Office while on its way to me for repairs, after the owner settled with the PO, he gave it to me...'tis now rebuilt and running, I couldn't clean it just yet, thought it looked pretty good as is...

Hey Guys:
I'm almost done cheating (Loosly interpreting LotW). Here's recently acquired lathe #2 (of the recent acquisitions.)
Taiwanese (Craftex) 7 x 8. Gonna get a 14" replacement bed kit for it... about the size of the Sherline in terms of what length it will turn, but about 90LBS!!!

Almost B&O colours which is apropos!
and yes within the year I will be producing HO Scale loco gears and flywheels....

Yesterday's train show buy, Rivarossi pre-'72 2-10-2. Needed the usual TLC. $50 buy, not.

Having been to Allentown, Timonium, and the Great Midwest (Chicago) shows, my favorite and best finds have always come from one dealer at the Chicago show. And he made the trip to Louisville yesterday!
Among other finds, I got this for $15:

Bachmann GP35... new tooling and mechanism, intact, and a very pretty paint job. Numberboards are a nice touch. A little dusty but otherwise new - can't ask for better at the price.

From a kit to a stand out orange 4-4-2. NO HATING ON THE COLOR!! ORange is my favorite color so I wanted this Roundhouse 4-4-2 kit that my mom got me as a gift for working really hard lately around the house and doing well in school to be my #1 favorite engine. Got about 80% of her done and I've only had her for 2 days Just need to paint the cylinders, yoke bar, and main rods. Then assemble the valve gear... She runs magnificent!

Hyde's post got me thinking about colorful locomotives, so I thought of my Cotton Belt GP7 in Daylight colors. This is an Atlas Classic.

That's one beautiful Gp7!! I wish I had it because it could run with my other roundhouse 4-4-2, a custom SSW atlantic with matching 5 daylight scheme coaches and matching caboose AND an auxilary tender!! Stole it off ebay for only $50 for a christmas present for me!! Steal, to say the least. The last owner was dead on accurate to the actuall SSW 4-4-2s that they ran. They had a real #605 which is the one I have but the only photo I have saved of the prototype is of #602.

Here is an Athearn GP9 that I purchased some 35 years ago and had misplaced it. I found it a couple of weeks ago, oiled it, cleaned the wheels and greased the gears and it runs smooth as ever. I am missing the end rails and I am searching the interned for them.

Hey Hyde:
Nice work. I'm gonna do a similar model for the Great Nephew of the Gal I do volunteer work with at Catholic Family Servies. He liks Blue so I'm gonna go the Blue 7 Gold route with trim I think. Sort of an British "Mallard" Enamel type I think...
Btw, it that a pre-Super Beetle in the background?

Hey Gareth! View this topic from back in December and go down to past half page and look for a picture of the bug, it's a 1965 VW bug that my father and I made look like herbie. I describe the history of it to. And here I thought everyone knew about it http://www.tycoforums.com/tyco/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=12656

Okay, a bit late out of the roundhouse, but my ALCO-HAULIK input is for DEMONSTRATION PURPOSES only...

Okay, if anyone is puzzled, I also just realized a few extra entries...
On display Left to Right: Athearn custom A-A PA1's in MLW/GE Diesel Electric in CN colours numbered 9077+9078 both powered LifeLike Proto 2K A-B More Power To America Special PA2's 8375A+8375B both powered LifeLike Proto 2K A+A FA1's 1602A+1602D.
Did you catch the two extras? Mehano C628 in Santa Fe passenger colors Then I realized the blue 'n yellow at the right rear... KATO RSD4
"...this concludes my ALCO... entry."
John
p.s. These are the faces that anyone could love... not just mothers. I thought so, too.
I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

Continuing the Alco theme, here's my PA1 "set", the B is a dummy, and the other A is unpowered/trucked at the moment, so technically this is only ONE LOTW. Anyway, one of my favorite roadnames, having grown up in Richmond, VA with many of the East Coast roadnames passing through the area.
