Here you go Ben http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tyco-E7A-Burlington-Northern-BN-432-/321078142996?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item4ac1bfa814

Keeping with the E7s, here's my Tyco Milwaukee Road E7. Got if off ebay for $15, free shiping with the original box. When it arrived here It squeeled horribly and barely ran. Took apart, cleaned all the wheels, greases the gears put a drop of oil on the motor shaft and then I noticed carpet fiber all over the geared side of the powertorque! Cleaned all I could but I feared the damage was already done... Within minutes of reassembly she went up in smoke trying to fire up and she nearly did... Oh well. Took apart the old truck, cut the wires from the old PT plate and now have a new power torque truck, plate, and springs and brushes waiting to go on the new plate. Been putting it off for a month now... Will get around to it soon

Fire up the Barbie...

...BQ23-7... get? thus concludes Sunday Punday.

Anyway, a classic Bachmann BQ23-7, original release with full pilots. These also had Bachmann's original, awful, "flat" Blomberg trucks. Got a junker Bachmann GP40 at last week's show that had the newer trucks, so I swapped those over. A little pilot detailing is all it really needs now.

Ray, ya could use anything really! Lots of room and with the right parts, ya could have flywheels! Eldon at Micro-Locomotion has a Canon motor ideal for 'Rossi's. Speaking of the Rivarossi, here is one from the last train show, $50 buy, has a small chip on the tender skirt and a minor scuff mark, like new other wise:

My LOTW is an O-gauge Hafner, to compliment Weekendrailroader's Hafner caboose in COTW. :) I forget where I got this, I think it was at a summer auction many years ago. It's a wind-up, still tries to run, needs some lube badly, though.

Hey Guys;

My Last LotW wherin the "L" is being abused!

This is my top of the heap. A pristine WW2 South Bend 9 x 36 Model A. Quick Change Gear box and power cross feed.

Nelson I hope will appreciate their is no relationship to anyting Conrail!

How is it train related, well the big lathe allows me to make parts for the smaller lathes which in turn will allow me to produce custom Gears & Flywheels!

Hey BT:

Hadn't thought of that. Have to think about the axle issue. That means I'l probably be pinging Tony L (GIC)

Justin, don't see why not. You might want to try modding a Yardbird Trains "Wormfly" We're probably 6 months from prototypes. I actually have quite a lot to learn. Not from scratch but to be proficient. I mean I made a tap wrench and a "V" Block that were gorgeous, but it took several 3 hour classes to make a tap wrench you can get at ACE hdw for $15 made in China. Custom is not China's forte though and it sure isn't Tyco.

The isuue is reasonable production runs, what's called "Process Planning". The hard work is trying to figure out how to do things smart. With a few exceptions I will want to do batches of things. Easier that way. I've been considering converting one of my Uni Lathes to CNC which would simplyfy things for sure....

As I said, lots to learn, most of that will be about modifying my Lathes and Mill for best production.... then the actual production....

This week's contribution is a project I completed last week. It's a 60's era Tyco kit that I had for a few years that I finally got around to assembling last week. The reason I didn't get to it sooner is that it had a damaged wheel that I needed a replacement part for. I really like the crisp paint, especially for something of this vintage.

Those square bronze bearing motors were champion noise makers. If you want to maintain a certain amount of originality, I recommend a Rivarossi round motor, or a 60's square ball bearing version which adds a cool turbo-like whine. I may have one or two kicking around.

Well if she wants to run, then get some oil on that mechanism and let her stretch her wheels.

He's getting the cars AND the engine, although that Mantua RG F7 is a bit mangy and has some holes drilled in it, he'll have to live with it.

This little beauty here is my Dad's favorite Rivarossi 0-4-0, not for actually looking like anything he'd seen but because it's not a clone of the other 0-4-0 docksides that everyone seems to have lots of. When Dad had been sick as a kid, it was this engine that kept his sanity running back and forth on 3 feet of track near his bedside, so it's earned it's place on the pike.

It doesn't run all that good yet, but I wouldn't expect that from one that was hibernating for over 35 years in an attic! The front step is missing, but I found it in a box of army men parts that I had debated throwing out. I attempted to reglue it with styrene glue, but it fell off again.

Any suggestions for a better repair? I think I want to get this running smoother this weekend, as it'd mean something to him.

Nice story about your 0-4-0, Islander. The steps are usually missing from those, so if you still have the broken one you're ahead of the game. You can drill and pin it the way I did on my Dockside, but it's a bit of a headache.

http://www.tycoforums.com/tyco/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=11658

I use CA, but just gluing them never holds because there's too little surface area. Instead of drilling through the uprights you could cut short pieces of steel or brass wire and glue them to the backs of the uprights across each break.

Ought I try to reinforce the other ones while I'm at it? I don't want to change the pilot style, but I like that idea of using brass rods or styrene to sturdy it. I haven't seen a whole lot of this type of 0-4-0 out there, and the few I did all seemed to have gone through a blender. I'm glad my late grandpa had some sense when he packed up dad's trains.

Islander, they are probably the most fragile locos Rivarossi made. The shells are very thin, and will crack in the front if the screw into the stack is tightened too much. I remember seeing them in Two Guys when I was a kid, but I wasn't interested in them because of the European styling. I've since obtained a few, tho.

You could reinforce the other steps if you like, but since you're careful with it they should be okay.
