Ray Nice Tyco/Mantua. Reminds me of my GP 20 BN from last LOTW. You hand bent the handrails and used non-stock stanchions as well as paint and number work?

I did make the railings and stanchions. The cab was smashed so I replaced it with an Athearn GP9 cab and formed the number board and headlight area from styrene and putty. It has an upgraded power torque drive also.

I could have predicted you had done more custom than I could figure out :)

UP Attacked By Giant Mutant Kudzu Vines!

Carrying over from last week, here's my rehabbed junker Bachmann 4-4-0. The new motor makes it smooth and much quieter, aside from some gear noise. I put a bronze thrust washer at the front of the worm, but since the 'shaft' on the front end is just a plastic pin that's part of the worm itself, it sheared it off. I drilled the worm out and replaced it with a short length of 2mm shaft, and haven't had a problem since.
With the traction tires and weight, it will out-pull many larger diesels. It performs better than the recent improved one I bought not too long ago, in part because they put so much lateral slop in the drivers that it noses all over the place. It was completely unnecessary, and I think they had to raise the fenders to clear them.
It's a good thing I took photos, or I wouldn't have noticed the cracked cylinder saddle in pic #2. Well, I have a repair to do.

well nelson at least your right side cylinder is intact... the derelict 4-4-0 i have has its right side cylinder cracked off from the frame. Mine is most likely never coming back together.

My LOTW this week is a buy from a toy dealer at an antique show I go to every few months, he had this nice Seaboard Athearn engine ( not sure of type/model yet ), I don't have much Seaboard, so this was a welcome addition to my fleet. Living in Richmond, VA in my childhood, I had C&O, B&O, Seaboard, Southern, and others through my home town frequently, with Seaboard having headquarters on Broad Street about 1 mile from my house. Building is still there, but been renovated many times, and now houses some high tech businesses. Anyway, looks like most of the stuff is in the box, but one long hand railing looks like it's missing. Will inventory later.

Jerry, Thats a GP40-2, it has 3 radiator fans, and the hole on the long hood to designate "-2".....I also have that same locomotive! I got a few of them, along with the matching GP38-2's, which only has 2 radiator fans on the hood top, and as the "-2" the hole in the long hood.....
NICE find tho! (I'm looking for the "Family Lines" paint on L&N/SCL......)

About five years ago The Favorite Spot was selling those Bachmann 0-6-0's for $25 a piece. Why I didn't get one for myself, I'll never know.
I like that Hustler conversion, Sean. What is the roadname?

I do like that Seaboard diesel! CSX has a original non-repaint Seaboard SD40. Seen it once. Also, my hometown area's city is home to CSX's headquarters. ACL pacific use to sit right up front.

Thanks Littlejoe!
Yes, it is a wiper. I 4 locos for the "Carolsburgh and Genesville" RR. I purchased a GP9 from a gent on eBay sometime in 2011. I thought the loco was altra cool with the detail he added, but I could not find the real RR on line anywhere. So I contacted the seller and found out this. He (still_jus_me) on ebay was selling a few things from his deceased friend's model railroad. This is the model railroad: http://pasquale.dhs.org/CandG/index.htm
When I saw this website, I decided I wanted more of this guys collection so I bid on another lot of three engines Tom had listed and picked up an Athearn powered diecast Cary F3 (or FP - not sure which), Bachmann Spectrum 70 tom switcher and the Hustler. All have nice details and painted handrails. I think it is cool having them even though being diesels and a fantasy RR they are nothing like anything I tend to collect.

Sean, you got a few nice pieces from a great model railroad. Nice to know they live on, instead of being pitched.
I didn't even notice the pickup plunger.
