Flashing the COTW with my new purchase, a Bachmann Zenith Chromacolor boxcar. Highlights are great.

My coach is 1 of 5 that I won on ebay as a matching SSW set. Comes with 4-4-2, water tender, and 5 daylight scheme coaches! I'm just gonnapost the observation coach being observation cars are my favorite! Sadly as I've said this set is one of my christmas gifts...

Unless I find something else lying around, I'll be showing unbuilt blue box kits for the next few weeks. Here's a tank car I picked up at the last train show I went to:

I'll probably assemble this one with my girls someday, but right now I'm stockpiling these kits while they're available and relatively cheap. I really don't have a positive outlook for where this hobby is heading.

Awesome. By the way, I took a look at the site in your signature. Your layout looks like the kind of thing I'd like to do once I get my new garage built next year.

My new layout? I appologize for not updating, there has been a LOT more news regarding new engines and layout progress. Haven't had the time to do in depth updates. But thank you for checking out my cite!!

Got this one from Mike's trains at the Nassau Hobby Center's annual show at the Freeport Rec center. It was free, because he wanted to rid himself of a large box of athearn caboose parts. If only I had realized their worth back then.
I have since bought from him at subsequent shows, but the number on his business card he gave me is out, so I cant' find him for parts now. He had literally everything. Lil' monster parts, AEC cars.... one of those parts gurus.
What do you all think? Does a NH caboose look better with a green coupla?

This is my COTW:
I picked up two more this week! Varney Ohio Seamless Tube Gondolas. The car in the small image has already come and it is perfect and has the overhead beam, but it has never been mounted. The other one has not arrived yet and I do not anticipate it having the beam for the open end. I am not sure, but i may have 4-5 by now.

I have a Verney car with that same paint but the gondola is not open ended. It is a standard box. Also the undercarriage is yellow and not black.

Hi,
There are a couple versions. The car in the large pic above did not come from the factory with the end beam. It is just like yours. This topic from October depicts a view of a car I have with the open end look from the factory:

Here is a real nice view from one I found on line:

Thanks Thomas! I was wondering what the blocks would have been for. I thought they were aftermarket and not factory though.

| The NYC flat car is Life Like, it is also Varney. The circus flat car came out when the Varney name was being phased out in favor of the Life Like brand. The flat car can be found in Varney and Life Like boxes.

Well time to add a Car of the week as I have the other "of the week" series on here.....Got a few to add!

These pictures, are of the SAME caboose, one is one side and the other, is the opposite side of the same car! Been looking for this model for awhile, thanks to a forum member for the trade.....
Then I also got:

A few CSX Safety Caboose's to add to my fleet of "safety" caboose's that I've been wanting, and finally got them...Again, from the same forum member in trade!

Did I hear someone say New Haven caboose!

The second picture is just to show the depth of the box to give you some idea as to how many are in there. I have a large bin just stuffed full of the freight cars.
