I have these Tyco GT Alcos and wondered what they might have been part of and discovered that GT was a division of CN running in the US. I have seen a picture with a CN loco, in this paint scheme, with GTW reporting marks on the cab. I think the fonts are very similar though I never thought of it until now. The CNs are Mantua and Tyco respectively.

Just something about those BIG hi-nose ALCO's that gets me......I know Chessie never had one, but TYC painted one in Chessie and I'd love to get me hands on a shell!

BUT, I like 'em!

I discovered that the Central Vermont CV logo looked like the same font style as those here and found that CV was part of the GTW and CN railroad with some CV locos in the same blue and orange paint as the Tyco C430 GT example and some CV in the CN black and orange. Notice too the ends of these two engines use the same orange in the same way.

Busss,
Really glad you like it. I had hoped that more guys would post their Tyco /Mantua lash-ups since this is posted in Tyco Motive Power. I am trying to post lash-ups of Tyco motive power that could have run together and the last one with GTW, CN and finding now that CV, Central Vermont, would be a part of that was interesting.

It took my 4 years to get my $25 Mantua Pacific "paint chip monster" just right. It sat in pieces for 2-3 years and last year, it was re-painted and reassembled. Got a frame/drivers/side rods from Sean a few weeks ago and finally!

same with mine! When i got it in 2007 i finally took it apart in 2008 and there in pieces it sat till work started in 2010, stopped in 2011, then started up and finished again this year. i only spent $12 on the restoration! and that was just for the parts supplier the rest i did myself.

What a cool topic!

I dont have a layout per say, and this isnt exactly a consist. I bought these two last month at a show for $10 because they didnt run. Needless to say, some minor cleaning up, and they do run now. As a kid I had always wanted an "old" steamer like this. When he was a kid, my dad had always wanted a Lionel Santa Fe F3. Guess why I had tons of F's but no steam.

A very nice collection of GG-1s. You should post a "Black Jack" as LOTW immediately!
Certainlty all Tyco as in "Tyco Motive Power".

Here's an A-B-B-A consist of NH C-Liners, all 60's vintage. Both powered A units are smooth, quiet runners.

Bask in their McGinnis-ness. The little aphid on the lead unit is.

I saw a lash-up of modern diesels in these roads, on railpictures.net like this, which prompted me to post another all Tyco lash-up.

EM-1, Makes me all nostalgic for PA when I read "Sand Patch" in your post.

Nelson, Love the C-Liners. Do you have them on display at home?

The same BN GP20 shell with metal handrails and MU2 power from a Geep I got for $5. It looks and runs so much differently from the PT version.

Thanks AF. No, unfortunately they remained boxed. I'd like to get a display case, but I don't want to spend the money. I'd love an enclosed acrylic one that would keep everything dust free.

At the top of the page there's a Pennsy C430 behind your CN/GT consist. Did you close up that pilot area? Maybe it's just a shadow or something, but it looks cool.

More to come! These will be stuck, in my yard, both are custom painted and modified to be close to prototype models for the B&O. Needless to say they are both Athearn models.

I forgot about this one! I took this some years ago in my old train club.....

I was the predient of the club that was sponsored by a Historical Society of my home town, and the club itself, was hosted in an old Western Maryland railroad station!!!!! I had the whole "freight room" to add layouts.....We had HO scale, (mine) O scale, and G scale layouts and was working on an N scale....

After I moved, it was all tossed out for the new guys that took over and ruined EVERYTHNG! ERRR (Yeah, I'm barkin')

That bridge you see in the picture? was made from popsickle sticks, and cardboard gusset plates, all painted and weathered by me! Sadly, someone destroyed it!

I'll be making another one as I have the design to it in my computer from that first one so.......BUT, the next bridge like that, will be on my layout!

Well one more OLD picture I found......This was taken back when I still resided in Pennsylvania in my old shop!

I still got both these locomotives and they do VERY well under pressure. These are the only 2 Camelbacks I currently own, (Hopefully that will change!) But both pull well for their size.....

I've seen a bunch of your motive power and you are not a poor RR.
When I started this post I called it "Post Your Nice Looking Tyco Lash-up II implying more than one engine. Someone commented that real railroaders never use the term lash-up but consist so I changed it to consist but I still post more than one engine, maybe that's where the confusion lies?. I find the term lash-up in a lot of RR magazine articles.

What's that second shark from the right Mike? I knew Tyco made a C430 like that. Is that custom, or just something rare?
