Hello Happy Members !
I ordered one "second-hand" Tyco 245-15 Consolidation 2-8-0 638 of the Chattanooga Railroad just because I love it. Unfortunately, the seller mention "Noisy runner / Poor Runner". So I probably have to open the tender for some mechanical works. How can I open it without destroying it? Thanks a lot for your help.

The tender should just pry apart as shown in the video. It's a mostly standard PT truck otherwise I believe. 'Noisy runner' usually means it needs oil on the armature shaft bearings in particular, among other things. Nice looking engine!

Got it ! My new and first Tyco steam loco arrived this morning in a perfect shape (for me). It runs very well as you can see in the video. I used my secret weapon to solve the "poor runner" problem.

So how do you use your secret weapon specifically?

I gently removed the tender shell. Then I used a wild method: I vaporized all the parts. Kontact 60 is just an electrical contact cleaner. Works fine !

I know I have seen that same Tyco Advert of the Chat with the lead
driver distinctly derailed as it flies along. I cannot find the copy of that
download for the life of me now. Has anyone got a link to it?

RP, do you have the much sought after B&O blue? If so, please repost.

Do you mean The Royal Blue 2-8-0? If so, then yes.

All of the Tyco 2-8-0's and 0-8-0's were PowerTorque tender driven steam engines.

Now, Mantua (in the 80s) released a 2-8-0 Consolidation and 0-8-0 too, where the actual locomotive had Mantua's typical direct-drive system in the steam locomotive. I'd like to get one in the future.
