Great shots. Looks like an excellent day to wander about. You have some great low angle closeups of the locos.Edited by - el rojo grande on March 31 2022 12:26:12 AM

I had not seen these photos, or anything quite like them before. Great synopsis. One thing that stood out was the "bunker fishing" with the coast easily visible, behind. Areas like this are so fished out that they have to travel hundreds of miles of offshore, now. When I was a kid, you could still catch a decent sized flounder off the beach in Cape Cod, or pull a lobster off the breakwater. All gone now. Lucky to find a mollusk.

LIRR train heading westbound at Napeague New York.
Looking east towards Montauk.
Homes near the track looking south. Atlantic Ocean blocks away.
Another crossing about a mile away from the previous one.
Different views of the Atlantic Ocean as I walk towards Montauk New York.
Near the Montauk train station here. I did not take a photo of the station. Getting dark and poor visibility. Previous posts have photos of the station. A nice thirteen mile walk that wonderful Sunday.

If I had been late during my long walk I would have reached the Montauk station at night.
Just like what happened to me three years ago. I took this picture of the station in 2019. Had to wait for the next train to take me home during overnight hours. Fortunately this year I made it in time to get the last train of the day.

From the heat of the City to the cool ocean breezes. Remarkable variety in Long Island, I only knew it as a series of very expensive suburbs bisected by the multilane expressway. The farthest I got was Deer Park. I didn't see any deer, or anything like it.
