Hi!
I used you advice I found elsewhere on the forum to revitalize my Chatanooga loco but now
looking to lube up a Tyco Model 212 4-6-2 Steam Loco.. I tried searching the forums but I couldn't seem to find anything for this loco.. does anyone have any details on the proper disassembly and what to lube/not to lube?

thx!

You really do NOT need to disassemble the 4-6-2. Everything that needs to be lubed is easily accessible.

Lubricate only the axle shafts between the wheel and the frame, as you may or may not have brass bearings. Either version would need a small amount to help keep things running smoothly.

Lubricate the drive rods as their attachment points to the wheels. Also a tiny and I mean tiny amount on all rivets connecting the valve gear.

As for the worm, if you have an open gear/worm, use a plastic compatible lube that will NOT sling off the worm when it turns.

Check out LaBelle oils and lubricants for Mantua engines. They are among the best!
