good day ken,if there are duplicates, which he says there will be,i will sell those on to members here first (you can have first dibs on these 4)one little warning, who ever owned these originally, did not use them,as can be seen by the following photos, hence the low price i get them for,as they are sold to me as non runners, all come in original boxes with all original spares, will keep you posted,am hoping he comes up with a jubilee for you as its van hobbies/pfm who made it ken

i had to relace the rubber and lube all over but worth it

Ken ; Your fleet of midsize locomotives now has its first pacific. VERY NICE !!!! In drive types you have a nice mixture of power. A 6 wheel switcher, 2, ten wheelers, a mogul, and now a consolidation and a big pacific. Six realy nice engines. They got to bring a smile to your face. * ** I can see them runnin in the back woods now. I'll paint the picture with words. ** On the line between Hollidaysburg and Williamsburg. The old Williamsburg Branch Rail Road. A ten wheeler pulls off on the siding at Springfield Junction. It is at the next to last station before Williamsburg, the end of the line. It is a mixed freight on a passenger run. As it stops at the Springfield Junction, the pair of box cars behind the combine are to be left on the siding to be delivered latter on today. Not much going on at this small station. 2 people got off, and 2 people got on. So as the cars are disconnected, a whistle is heard and a approaching train passes through the station heading in the opposite direction. A mogul pulling the morning milk train goes by, destination Altoona. It is a busy morning. Up on the hillside, on the Piney Creek spur, a consolidation is seen pulling the uphill grade leading to the yard where the line makes the 180 deg turn around Wapner Ridge, on the way to Hollidaysburg. A mixture of 2 bay hoppers carrying full loads of coal from the ore mines where the Post office is, up the hill from Morrell, and smaller oar cars with their load of rocks from the Blue Hole Quarry at Wertz, get the ride to the yards at Altoona. ** Now back at Springfield Junction Station the conductor approaches the steps on the combine. He checks his watch. He looks up towards the locomotive, then back to the end of the coach at the rear of his train. Looking back to the locomotive, directly at the engineer, he signals' to leave the station. The old ten wheeler blows its whistle long and short. The engineer releases the brake and opens the throttle. The steam fills the cylinder chest and a few long, slow, powerful chugs are heard, then quickly the drivers spin losing traction, just for a moment. The locomotive goes forward passing thru the switch points, back onto the old Williamsburg branch line, heading for its next stop at Ganister.
** It is quite a picture, here in my head. frank

Ken ; That is a for real place. It is where my Mom grew up in Blair county PA. Pinney creek ran right in front of her family's house. when you sat on the front porch to the left you would see the train bridge that crossed over Piney creek. frank

Hey Frank:
I'd be willing to bet no one ever saw a J-4e or an O-18a in that neck of the woods. Ironically most of the working steam at steamtwon are ex Canadian units! :P

Howdy guys; it's been a while since I've been here. Ken, that's a beautiful collection of brass you're building for yourself. I saw you had an AHM 4-8-2 in one of the LOTW threads. I had a recent discussion about AHM brass with some guys on a different group, and they pretty much raved about them having Rolls Royce-like running qualities, so congrats. I hope you have some silicone RC fuel line on hand to replace those rotted couplings.
I ran into Frank at his table of vintage HO stuff at the last Greenberg show, and had a long chat. Don't let him fool you, he's a super-nice guy. I've been meaning to log back in since.
And Gareth, as for the Canadian roster at Steamtown, we had to find some way to get you Canucks to drive all that distance!

Hey NP:
Good to see you on here!
I was thinking of a visit to Steamtown this year. Any idea which of the steamers they are running at present. I'd also like to meet Frank at one of the shows. I wonder if he does the First Frost/Thaw ones. It would allow me to see Todd which I haven't done in a few years1

Hi Gareth,
Judging by the photo on their excursion page, it looks like they're running CN Mikado 3254, which has been very reliable over the years. I wish they would invest in getting more US steam up and running, but I'm sure the budget is tight these days.
The next Greenberg show is in August, IIRC.

Hey Nelson:
Thats a lot closet to Pittsburgh than I thought. I thought it was over Allentown way!
Shame Steamtown isn't using a Pacific or Hudson to pull their excursion train but as a Mike fan worth a trip for sure and not too far out of the way. Do you get any further East? Like Allentown way? Make First Frost?

Didn't mean to hijack this thread, but I do get out to Allentown now & then. I tried the show at the Merchants Square Mall a few months ago, which wasn't too spectacular.

Are any of the 0-18a class 0-6-0 switchers still available? I would love to buy one as I am an avid CNR and Van Hobbies collector and this would make a fantastic addition to my roster, not to mention it is a model of my favorite steam locomotive! #7470 from the Conway Scenic Railroad.

Just an update;
Ken's Van Hobbies J-4e Pacific and S-2 Mikado have now been repatriated so to speak.
Glad to have them here and appreciate the deal I got from Ken on these.
