My engines get this black, greasy build-up on their wheels after a while. What methods/tools do you guys use to clean the wheels on your engines?

I put a paper towel on the track and spritz it with rubbing alcohol from a mister. I then run up the power and hold each end of the loco over the towel. The wheels clean themselves in no time. On models I can't do this on I use a Q-Tip dipped in alcohol and just carefully rub it off while turning the wheels with my finger or with a bit a power.

A blue paper shop towel soaked in rubbing alcohol works really great as shaygetz described above - cheap paper towels don't hold up as good or long and sometimes not at all depending on brand - The brown hand towels work great too. This is what the local club uses and cheap drug store brand rubbing alcohol

I like that idea of putting the paper towel on the track and running the engine while holding it over the towel. I've used Q-tips on my Tyco engines, but for 8-wheel pick-up/drive engines that takes a while.

Brian: the blue or brown paper towels eh? I wouldn't have thought of those.

Thanks!
