Hi All,
catfordken: That is one clean loco., looks heavy. Dirtimus: Nice, Does it run well for you?
My loco. of the week is a Bachmann F9. It has 8 wheel pick up but only 4 wheel drive in the back. The shell is paper thin. On the plus side it runs well after some cleaning. I think this is the Bachmann set we picked up at a flea market years back that had been in a flood as the set box and contents was caked with mud. After getting it all cleaned up and looking it over, I don't believe it had ever been run. I like to work on these things so it was worth the 2 or 3 bucks we spent on the set.
Thanks for looking
Mike

Rolling out from under my Jeep's passenger seat ( literally, I forgot I had this one, or where I got it now, but when cleaning up the Jeep this past weekend, it was under the seat. Some train show I got it at, I guess ). Anyway, my first Hobbytown engine, missing truck side plates on opposite side, and the headlight area is melted, but otherwise not too bad a shape. Will test it out soon.

This beast is heavy, lots of metal ballast in that low-slung Hobbytown frame.

Here's mine for the week, a 4-6-2 Heavy Pacific by AHM in the B&O George Washington style:

I picked this up yesterday, complete with its dusty box, at an antique store. My wife and I just stopped in to kill time. For $14, I decided to roll the dice and see if it ran. Of course, it didn't. It appears that the original owner tried to do some work on it, because the wheels and gears, etc, were all messed up. It was like they took it apart and didn't quite know how to put it together. The real problem was that the motor didn't work. It had some oily stuff on it, so I guess somebody got carried away with their oiling. I dropped in a CD motor, adjusted the wheels, and now it runs great and looks new. No light, but I'll deal with that later.

This looks like the Globe F7 body. They did fit the hobbytown drive. It is painted gold as Globe had painted theirs. The only other thing that cant be seen from this photo is how many headlights. Globe F7's had one. Athearn had 2, and latter on released a single light version. frank

Judging by some other F7s I looked at, and I found an Athearn F7 with the dual headlights in another post, this is a single headlight version, not the dual light. - Jerry -

Here she comes!
How odd! An exposed driveshaft links the driven wheels of this IHC Old Time American 4-4-0 to a tender mounted motor and while looking a trifle precarious, seems to work well enough. A charmer in all respects, for what early steamers lacked in power, they made up plenty with panache.
