GP20's, SD24's, Sharks, F-types and big Alcos are my diesels of choice which is why I like Tyco. However, should folks wish to throw other kinds of motive power at me then I wouldn't get out of the way!
My birthday gifted Santa Fe Superfleet SD35 by IHC packs quite a punch and I'm happy to spar! Hypoponera said this was the knockout model in Mehano's diesel lineup and he wasn't wrong. It's heavy; it's powerful, runs smooth, relatively quiet and fitting Kadee 43's was a piece of wedding cake! About the only thing I might change is to paint the handrails silver... I'll think it over.

Nice engines, guys! My post for this week is a Tyco E7 BN road, I've actually got some shells that may fit this , that aren't Tyco, so I'll have choices of roadnames if I can make them fit. It's big, it's green, it's " hulky ". Has the wrong power truck, but oh well.

I looked thru my trucks, but didn't find any with the vampire sides. I'll run'er as is.

Glad that SD35 pleases you. I'd hate to think I might have steered you wrong! Mine have proven to be BRUTES!
Are you sure the yellow handrails need to be painted? I don't think standard hobby/model paint will work though. The paint may have some trouble sticking to the slippery plastic rails.

hi guys there is a paint over there that tony cooke recommended for those handrails,i am sure if you enquire you will find it,sticks to those like glue ken ps dont know if you guys have noticed but plastic sweats,it is very important that you was plastic in a mild solution of washing liquid before painting

Just received this one--along with this came three Mantua aluminum Amtrak passenger cars. Paid a total of $50 for the loco and cars, with free shipping at that!

I love it!
An Amtrack GP20!
Someone should do a webpage of all the HO scale locomotives that have had Amtrak paint put on them!?

Yes an Amtrak GP-20! Of course we Tyco folks have never been accused of being rivet-counters! To me, if the model came out of the Tyco/Mantua factory with a paint job, I consider that to be authentic. Here are the cars that came with it--aluminum and lighted, of course.

Hi Guys!
Been gone for a little while... Things pretty hectic here right now. My friend Brian just finished restoration on this Brass HO PRR O-1 piece of mine:

This is the most Tyco Mantua related LotW we've had for more than a year maybe. I just got this Mantua F unit and it runs sweet and powerfully and it lights. No box missing rear coupler and has minor cosmetic probs. It is a red box offering from around '69-70 and still has the original traction tires, it appears.

I always liked the Tyco PRR F7. I bought mine new in a freight set in the late 60s when I was in high school. When I got back into trains in the early 00s, it didn't run very well any more. That's before I found this forum with info on how to rebuild the Tyco parts. I put the body on an Athearn chasis.
