Anybody here own and run any of that ol' Marklin? I got a ton of the "C" track and 2 transformer but no darn engines or cars Hows the quality of there engines ie pulling power, running, etc. I wanna buy some but would prefer late 50's early 60's made train. But, can'ts afford! Whats the best era of there products and the worse?

I think they're the best out there---but---like most companies, many of their later items are made in China...I'd stick with 50s-60s stuff myself...

I lucked out a year ago, and got a D30? Centercab Marklin for $25. Normally sell on Ebay for $75-up. Haven't tried it yet, but bought a few pieces of modern "morse code" Marklin track to try it out on ( no third rail, all raised metal dots for contact ) I think the older stuff is preferable, anyway. Style-wise and quality-wise, but I really don't know much about it. Far as affording it, sometimes you can get lucky and score a piece cheaper than normal.
