I've been interested in Playart diecast for some time, and now have acquired an HO bullet train engine. You rarely see any bullet / high speed trains modeled, I like the design of this one. I think they used some Lima and Model Power motors in them. This one is still in the box, nice, although has a cheesy plastic Pantograph. Still, I like it. Wouldn't mind having the entire set, either, money permitting. Just curious if anyone else has any of these.

I have only what you have, the engine. I do know they make a "coach" in addition to the engine. At the very least that is. Of all the times I've seen more than one of these for sale it is only one engine and one coach, never any more. Odd.
This does however photograph nice from the front. Looks like a big happy face if you get the angle well.

I picked up one of those sets last year at the Timonium show. The whole set is in the Amtrak paint scheme, and runs well but really noisy.

Thanks Ken for linking to my website!
The pantographs of this train are quite prototypical, see this picture of the original train (I took this prior to retirement of the Shinkansen Type 0 in Oct 2008):

Playart made a version of the bullet train for JR (Japan Railways), Santa Fe (Warbonnet) and Amtrak. It´s a copy of the Lima model with the exception of the windows. It was sold by Model Power as well.

Hi, I have the set of 4 carriages that you are discussing in this forum. I am going to sell it if anyone is interested in buying it? I am located in Melbourne, Australia. But will post at buyers cost. I can email photos if interested etc. I got it brand new as a Christmas present back in the 80's. It is in very good condition even for its age. I don't have the track any more just the 4 carriages. Thanks, Nick

Long way to travel! LOL. I'm currently watching a Coke version of this Playart set. What set is yours? They made a Coke, a blue and white, and an Amtrak. I actually acquired a full Amtrak set awhile back. Still don't have a complete blue and white set yet.
