This was my first attempt at building and decaling a loco. The shells started life as Model Power USAF F2'S I got from there website for 50 cents a piece. First I had to fill in the Pilots they were way to big. Next all the holes for the grab irons, lift rings, air hoses and whiper blades. I decided to give it a go at trying to make my own grab irons out of wire. I listened to the owner at my LHS he had some good tips. Success they worked fine looked just as good as a walthers kits. Then was the challenge. I found out Details west makes "chicken wire" mesh grills for the F3 low and behold the F2's used them to just diff spacing. So I began the long cutting process. I cut out the molded in mesh in both the sideds and the top with a razor blade. Each individual molded piece was removed keeping the supports braces intact boy did that suck. But I knew it would be worth it. after that came the painting. Last but not least the decals I followed the pics that came with the microscale sheet. The decals didnt come out the best as far as placement but hey it was my first time, and on the plus side no air bubbles. over all they came out pretty well I think, the Chasis are Bachmann plus units, had to do some retrofitting with my handy chisle blade. I prob should have checked that before all the work I did on the shells LOL. Future plans are crew as well as diaphrams and cut levers, I also want to install working marker lights. One day I would like to add sound to them. Let me know what you guys think.

Looks great.
I used a Conrail F2 Model Power shell and it fit a Bachmann Spectrum (non DCC) chassie perfectly. I had to use a Details West plow to cover up and accidental drop onto the front pilot.

All I can say is wow!!!! Nice work. From what the pictures show, they look as good as any high end factory model. Now all you need is a dozen coaches behind them.

He was only able to do this because he stole inside information from EMD.
