Hi Richard. An exact date is Hard... But, Tyco / Mantua cars changed from hook loop to Horn hook type around the Mid 1950's Carl

| I have one of the original kit releases of the "new" 8-wheel / streamline caboose from about 1955/56, and IIRC correctly both coupler styles were supplied. The loop-n-hooks were even made of nylon. So it's safe to say the transition was well underway about that time. Boxed RTR and Set-content stuff would have included only one or the other though, and I am not sure when that happened.
