Sweet...
Mine is a Bachmann E60CP in fantasy paint, Bachmann offered these in two roads (Amtrak and the Rock) even though Amtrak was the only one who owned these passenger locos...

All of these are very nice guys.
Ken, that was one of the first Diesel sets I put together. I bought an ABA consist of NYC PA's by Athearn from a very famous hobby shop in NYC. I'm going to save that story because it deserves it's own topic. I believe mine have black trucks as opposed to the silver ones yours has. Mine was bought in the early 90's and does have the flywheels. Is yours older or newer, I'm wondering what other differences there are?

Thanks Ken. I know exactly where these bad boys are. Maybe I can get them when I get home this evening. Still trying to wrap up work today, obviously taking a little break right now.

If your referring to me MicroB I'm good, like my consist just the way it is
Finally got a picture of this little guy. I've owned him for a few months. He's a incredibly awesome runner. Can creep along at 1 mph or fly like the wind. Pulls cars better than most any other small engine you can pin him against. Only issue is the tender needs more weight. But other than that its a great little engine!

Out on a beer run!

Wow, a pretty diverse mix this week. Like them all, but especially that Rock brick... something just looks good about it. I wonder how hard it would be to upgrade the pantographs. Are the new ones equipped for catenary power?
Here's my own eclectic electric: the Bachmann E60CF, in Chessie.

Nice touch on this and the E60CP: the stirrups are a rubbery plastic which is very pliable (i.e., unbreakable).

Just so ya know Cheez - the B is fairly rare - its unlettered. This was a factory error. I have one myself in my Athearn collection. Larry

Just postal'ed in from Ebay today, I decided to pick this rather unusual engine I got as my LOTW. A Bachmann, in C&O livery ( fantasy ), it's a rather strange-looking engine, called a BQ23-7. Apparently the Q stood for quarters, so I guess the crew could live in the cab. Kind of like those politicians who are living in their offices in Congress. Anyway, going to try to clean it up some, not sure if that is a weather attempt with the smearing, or what. Anyway, looks sort of like that electric unit posted earlier.

Actually the "Quarters" cab was available on all GE Dash 7 models - but only 10 BQ23-7's were ever built (all for SCL). It was designed as a 5 man crew cab to eliminate the need for a caboose not to live in . Crew reductions and EOTD's negated the need for such a cab. The Chessie one is a foobie - Bachmann did make SCL/Family Lines ones (I have one). Its the only version ever done and many people have adapted them to Athearn Uboat chassis's. BTW for the record all 10 of these were scrapped after being retired by CSX. Larry

Imagine that there is only one line in the following pic, and you can surmise why the "Q" cab did not find much favor (pretty much the same reason that classicly-styled Forward-Control vehicles like VW busses, Corvair Greenbriers, A-100s and the original Econoline won't be made again)...

The Bachmann shell is actually very nicely done for its time, and still holds up well: a prime candidate for some basic superdetailing. I have a third, beat-up one that I've long planned to do something with. Trouble is I can't decide if I should make it into one of CSX's infamous "BQ-B Units", or paint it for the STC, or even keep the Chessie paint and sublet it to the STC. Decisions, decisions.
A few other notes: the Family Lines paint is very accurate and well done. And while Larry correctly notes that Chessie never did own any, C&O was the only Chessie affiliate to roster any GE units, so Bachmann at least got that right - even the road# falls outside the C&O's assigned range so there's no conflict there. Ironicallly CSX would have ended up with either. When they did, they promptly plated the windows and turned them into B-units. At least one got the "Bright Future" paint before they were all scrapped, though.
Would have loved to see one in Seaboard System paint. Ah crap, there's a fourth option...!

The real Chessie/C&O 8226 was a U30B (later CSX 5354).\

D'oh, sad trombone time.... I was on the right track, but crossed up my refs. I got the "unassigned number" status mixed up with that E60CF... which does sport a number that was technically unassigned as a C&O (but would have been a B&O GP40-2). C&O was still the only GE buyer in the system, so Bachmann did at least get close; maybe someone in the C&O whispered a desire for a "Q-7" after all? ;)
