For your consideration, a Mantua-Tyco F9 in Santa Fe. Has the MU2 motor. Got it at a garage sale in a box full of old HO stuff for $10,,this is one the the two locos in that box among other things. Got it to run again after reading posts in this forum! Just need to replace the lightbulb now.

I have one of those Santa Fe Freight units in my fleet as well. The plastic wheels on the MU2 power truck are cracked and do not run as well. I've even tried to super glue the wheels at the crack to hold them together, but it doesn't work. I'd like to find another MU2 power truck with all the wheels in good shape, and cracked plastic wheels to make it run again.

Just to tease that member who was REALLY wanting a Tyco General locomotive , I found mine in storage last night. I bought this at an auction some years ago, and being metal, I knew I wanted it. I think I remember paying about $24 for it then. Just powered it up after taking pictures, it won't run, but will jump and move some if you nudge it. Guess it needs an overhaul. But at least the motor is not stuck. Hooked it up to my old time passenger cars I had in another box, so it looks authentic. Here it 'tis!

ALMOST had a catastrophe with it, was on my test loop board on the edge, 3 foot above the floor, and my robe sleeve caught it and knocked it off! Luckily it fell right onto my padded slipper-clad right foot lengthwise ( and NOT with that pointy metal cow-catcher! ). Didn't hurt it a bit, it just rolled off my slipper onto the floor gently. How lucky could I get? Didn't see any damage to it, no bent wires even. Amazing. I put it farther in on the test track quickly. Need that 2nd cup of coffee, I guess. Anyway, will work on it this year to get it going if I can.

Going along with the Tyco F-units, here is my MU-2 powered Burlington F9. It was missing a lot of pieces when I got it, but it's all back together now

I thought I'd contribute this Union Pacific Big Boy, which is a display model made by Con-Cor.

I have one of those Burlington F9 shells, which is all it is. Mine has the decal across the nose, where yours doesn't. I'm considering fitting it to an Athearn chassis since it is a shell, and it would be better to find another one that is complete than to try to track down the original Mantua Tyco pieces for it. Thanks for posting yours though. Gary

Mine probably had a decal at some point. I got the engine in a lot with some passenger cars. It was missing several truck frames, the fuel tank/weight, and three of the ladders, but it did have working drive components. If you look at the two rear ladders in the pic you'll see they're slightly deformed...that's auto body filler If you're shell is in nice condition, an Athearn chassis would definitely be a good way to go.
