What's the overall length of a Tyco 2-8-0 & tender, coupling to coupling? I'm laying out a design for a round house and I just want to make sure that I leave enough room inside.

| I have learned from experience to build everything slightly larger than what I plan to use. Over time you may see that have to have item on EBay or at a show and get it home only to find that you beautifully built item cannot handle the new item. I had an overpass that has been through 3 major rebuilds and multiple minor ones due to this.

I was in a real quandary with this structure. My space is limited, so much that the Atlas round house would be way too big, unless I decided to stay with 6 stalls. I had decided to scratch build an enclosed roundhouse like the Martinsburg, WV B&O roundhouses using survey drawings done by the National Park Service. The scale drawings are available here:
I can't get this goofy URL to work, so you'll have to copy and paste it into your browser.
www.wva-usa.com/newsite/www.wvrailroads.com/drawings/martinsburg-roundhouse/
If I were to stick to scale, my roundhouse would be 24.5" effective inside diameter. With the Atlas turntable in the middle at 9" diameter, that leaves storage tracks at a maximum of 7.75". I could store a few of my streetcars and my switchers.
The original turntables were roughly 50' and at scale, 7 inches. Again, that really limits storage and I'm not into the idea of modifying the Atlas turntable anyway.
I suppose the only thing that I can do is increase the over all size of the roundhouse to 27 inches, effective inside diameter, or maybe a little more. I can only turn an engine that's a maximum of 9 inches anyway and I'll have 9 inch long storage tracks. It'll still fit within my layout and won't look out of scale except to some rivet counter taking a ruler to it. Most of my power will fit. The Royal Blue will just have to have its own shed.
Here's what I did so far on my HO scale solid model. I have a ways to go in reverse engineering the original drawings.
