I am not a fan of the Power Torque configuration. Is there a 1776 locomotive made by Mantua or Tyco that does not use the PT? Also did Athearn ever make a 1776 in their Blue Box line? Just asking since my fleet is mostly Mantua steamers and Athearn diesels.

Yes - The first issued Spirit of 76 ALco 430's Mantua/Tyco locomotives had the MU motor in them. Athearn did make a 1776 locomtive as i have one - it is a U33B SCL 1776 BLuebox
Here is a link to Every known Variation on the Mantua/Tyco and Tyco spirit of 76 Alco 430 locomotives i made last year

Many of the different manufacturers from Tyco to AHM to Life-Like to Bachmann had various 1776 engines of various makes. If you meant specifically the Alco Tyco had, no, not many Bicentennial engines were of that type, there were F3, even a Hustler 44-ton ( Lima ) painted in the Red, White, and Blue by other makers. I wasn't aware that Tyco had an earlier Bi diesel with the MU-2 motor. But since the attaching points are the same, for the most part, you can probably retro-fit an existing shell to the older motor assembly.
