And now for a little critter that I truly love. My Penn Line D-2 Whitcomb Midget Diesel.

Was at the last Greenburg show that rolled through a month ago and saw one of these. Price was a bit rich for my blood and I ended up with a Lionel switcher that wasn't much cheaper and didn't run nearly as good as the seller said it did. I was disappointed on missing out one the switcher I really wanted and figured I'd never see on again. Very next show one appeared lol. Talked with the seller, he tried to test it on the spot with a battery and it didn't even kick. He let me take it over to the test track and it didn't move there either. Talked him down a few bucks since it didn't run. Took it home, lubed everything and cleaned all 4 wheels and the brush surfaces. Ran like a champ lol. Going to get another someday, hopefully the next one is really nice or really bad. One I'll just repaint back and just restore it to a decent shape. And the worse of the two I'll detail a little more and give it some color.

Oh, those little critters are quite hefty for their size. Mine needs total disassembly and cleaning, it moves, but barely. I got mine with another loco for $28 on Ebay a few months ago.

Those are cool. I especially like the Lacka Wanna name on the last photo. Reminds me of Grumpier Old Men movie with the Dad talking to the older Italian lady at the grocery store. With Come on i wanna lay u as one of the islands.

The shell is solid metal. There were 3 different versions from what I've seen. First version was a metal shell with added on detail parts. 2nd shell was all metal but details were molded in. 3rd shell looked the same as the 2nd version but was plastic. Most the ones I've seen have been the 2nd version. I never outright tested to see how much it could pull, but I'd imagine it would pull better than most things that small. Its geared somewhat low as well and drives all 4 wheels. Compared to my Lionel & AHM switcher the Penn Line is probably the best of the three.

Catfordken did you paint that? Looks great!
