I was gifted this Tyco HO TALGO train set in 1957 and it has been packed away ever since.
It was NEVER run as I did not have a power pack.
I was running primarily large Lionel trains at the time.
This set is most likely the only one in existence from 1957 that has never been used so it is EXTREMELY RARE.
The set includes the streamlined locomotive
3 passenger cars that are one unit with a coupler between the first car
the locomotive
uncoupling ramp
portable rerailer and a terminal track section.
Also included are 7 telephone poles (not part of the set).
The blue box and inside boxes with cellophane covers are in very poor condition.
The outside blue box is held together with tape.
There are some marks on the locomotive perhaps it was played with a little (see pictures).
It was stored in an attic or closet for the last 67 years.

I think a coupler cars would lift up on the 90 degree & U curves & derail

I've got the coach and observation from that set. The chrome is coming off in some places, mainly the roof, but other than that I'd say they are in pretty good condition.

Interesting item, though that price seems steep. Wonder if a Disney collector would bite on that? Going to add it to my watch list. The fellow who was trying to get 1k on a Tyco Aerotrain, in box dropped the price to $500. Thanks to WKS I was able to build my own!
Here's a nice looking '76 set, but anyone who knows a little about Tyco knows that the locomotive is cursed
with the flimsy PT motor and self destructing pinion gear. I can only imagine sets like this rubbish did as
much to turn people off to model railroading as Atari.

The PT was certainly introduced before 1976, because I got my first Tyco set in 1975, and it was PT powered.
I think Tyco phased in the PT though, rather than changing over all its locomotives at once. I don’t know
when the So76 theme was first introduced though; it could have been earlier than 1976.

The engine runs very rough but it does light up.
I did not get it to run backward when I tested it.
But it lit up.
So if you clean it and oil it up it will probably run well.
The engine is missing the rear coupler.
If you are more familiar with trains then I am you can probably replace it.
The box cars have all the couplers and wheels.
These toys do not come with any packaging or instructions.
It only comes with what is in the pictures.

Very interesting, but the prices are overheated. The Shark
appears to be positioned to hide the missing rear coupler.
Wasn't there some caboose that went with this set?
To my knowledge, the Tyco Talgo is still with that
owner, and he dropped the price a bit. Probably would take
a decent offer.

Listed for your consideration is a very difficult to find Kansas Durango and Colorado Tyco offset cupola caboose.
These were late production. It is in barely used condition.
It has a few flaws but overall still has nice factory gloss.
I liked the history of that. These came with a foam insert.
Couplers smokestack and brake wheels are present.
Wheels are very clean.

That's got to be pretty old Tyco! One curiosity is the visible
worm gear is white, which would seem to be a nylon gear.
Were nylon gears in use in the 1950's?

Little Trains were 1950s era if I'm not mistaken. I'm amused that the picture appears as though the box was shaken violently, opened, and immediately photographed. They could have at least tried to arrange the track nicely.
