Amazing that this thread has been the most popular over time since 2011!! It has been fun and now that it has reached 2500 comments and 51 pages, I am going to let this thread run it's self without me. I don't feel that it was any real accomlishment, but fun to see the thread at one time booming. However, I know there is others that would like to lead the way on the count. Thank You, to everyone who has contributed and had fun with the crazy auctions tread! Walt

Major cool factor here, where else you going to see an orange steamer? I got a nice 44 ton center cab Hooker, but if I can get my gnarly hands on this one, I'll sell the center cab to pay for it. Thanks for the tip! I got it on my watch list. Four bids on it, and still has three days to run.

Speaking of crazy auctions, I just won this lot of 10 HO locomotives off of Ebay at an excellent price tonight, less than 10 bucks a locomotive basically! Included is what appears to be a perfect TYCO Burlington Route SD24, as well as 3 AHM Seaboard Coast Line C-Liners (they are rather difficult to find in that scheme) as well as a SOO Line C-Liner, among others. Now, at least 2 of them are dummies, according to the seller, and none have been tested, but since over half the lot is AHM, I'm sure the risk will be worth it. Can't wait until they arrive! More diesel locomotives are bound for the EVRR.

Hi, Alex. No, I am not leaving the forum. I just topped out at the 51 pages on this thread and decided that I am not going to participate in keeping it going. It's been around a long time and maybe someone else will enjoy keeping it alive, or not. I will still post on other threads and the OTW ones as always...

Thanks Chops! Yeah, the Ephrata Valley Railroad will be seeing more and more updates over time, like the stone quarry site, and more. Also, I'm really looking for some "new" HO train cars, as I haven't bought any for the EVRR for a long time.

I threw down a bid at $37 this morning and left a max bid of $75 while I went to sleep for the day. Woke up after a nightmare of getting a job as a printer salesman and went back online to shake it off. My max bid had already been surpassed, and I threw down additional bids and raised it to $100 and was still being outbid!!!
I've been down this road before, only to have the high bidder withdraw his bids in the closing minutes, leaving me with an expensive bag. I really do like this piece, it fits the zany character of Armodilloville, but I really need to have some restraint here!!!
I'm going to pull the plug on this auction and see if this cute orange switcher shows up somewhere else...or maybe not...to be continued...

oh boy, the chase is on. I did just sell a small pile of overage on eBay, so I do have some play money to burn, and better to get one nice item than a bunch of widgets and broken stuff that I don't need or already have. Folks, if you're watching, El Chopo, here, is going to throw down a big final bid in the last seconds. Won't be time to reload for another bid, so the action is going to be down to the wire. Too slow, my bid isn't taken. Too fast, he slips past me at the finish line. Drum roll please, the count down to Tycomania has begun.

Chops does the last second bidding as I do for something I really want to win. I used "Bid-Nip", a bidding servive that lets you set the time of you bid. I set mine on 3 seconds before the auction ends!

Wow - sounds like it was a battle for that little steamer.
I always use the "7-second rule" when bidding on auctions, and it has rarely let me down.

There it was. I nipped in at 20 seconds, he hesitated 10 seconds, then beat me. I wonder if it is Bill Gates or someone who’s going to have buyer’s regret in the morning?

Not Bill Gates. He's busy trying to make a vaccine for a basic cold that has a point 26 (quarter of 1% death rate). I always done the 3 second snipe bid when I really wanted an item!! I had paid for a few auctions that I felt bad after paying so much for it!

Good eye, Erik. Probably just as well. Even though almost all of my eBay listings sold, I was getting a little too jazzed up on that orange locomotive. At least I have the satisfaction of knowing that guy is thinking, "I paid what for that locomotive???"

This bloke must be smoking Great Dane (refer to Cheech and Chong for humor).
See my other listings for more cool stuff. Friends and family discount to TFers. Thinning the herd, but keeping my 35 or so NH Tyco box cars. NFS.

HAAAA HA HA HA! HA!
Boy howdy that was a good laugh. The motor block in the tender must be made of solid gold, and old #638 must have a diamond encrusted.
Some people should stick to designer shoes and purses, as they don't know what model trains are worth for nothing.

Erik is 100% correct. The rightmost locomotive is a Santa Fe F9, made by TYCO, and the 2 locomotives next to it are Santa Fe C-Liners, made by AHM.
Hope that helps.

looking at tyco horn couplers among other things
found a lot of tyco cars that was cheaper than couplers packs currently listed
including shipping
I got a feeling I'll need to have a car graveyard area in my layout I'll know in about 9 hours to see if I get outbid

Makes me want to go smoke some Great Dane. My nuclear power plant cost me about $10 and works fine!

Said I wouldn't feed this page but can't pass this one up! You can now own these Tyco Fluorescent lights for a total of $44.95!! AND lucky for someone, They have 2 pair!! Total insanity to say the least!! I don't think I have ever paid over $10.00 for any pair of the almost 200 of these poles that I have! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-TYCO-No-103-Fluorescent-Street-Light-Lamp-Poles-HO-Scale-Model-RR-NOS/324181912244?hash=item4b7abf6ab4:g:oYsAAOSwW1Fe0TV-

Here's an interesting one. Tyco PC cars, but without the green stripe. It's possible someone painted the window-band silver, I guess. The numbering/lettering looks original.

I would be led to believe that this is one of Tyco's common mistakes. Lettering is so normal looking. Just my opinion, I could be wrong...

I like it, but will sit it out. Seems a bit pricey.

Is it possible that these coaches are actually Gilbert, and not Tyco? I've heard that Tyco shared the same tooling on their passenger coaches with Gilbert, and neither were stamped on the bottom (at least with my Tyco passenger coaches) ?
