Here's an auction ending today that is already up there - a metal Mantua/Tyco vintage Union Pacific Sharknose.

The UP Shark normally goes in the $40-$50 range. The winning bidder ran it way up, then paid an excessive amount for it. This auction is a perfect example of why it pays to snipe.

I completely agree with waw47. Bidding day after day only runs the price up. If it's something I really want, I bid with 3 seconds left in the auction...

Same - except I am a bit safer by bidding around 6 seconds before it ends.

I have been using 3 seconds for years. 6 seconds might give fast keyboarder a chance to respond.

Thinking on RP, I entered bidding over some Marklin Catenary that had 0 bids and 0 watchers at $10. I waited until the last 90 seconds. Bammo! Someone else dove in and it was all out war until the last 3 seconds, past my Max Bid, and waiting the last agonizing seconds for it to post. I won by a nose. Must have been bidding up against RP! https://www.ebay.com/itm/MARKLIN-7018-CATENARY-CONTACT-WIRES-270mm-long-20-pieces-VG-COND-LOOK/182837366532?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2648

Well my Marklin Catenary arrived today. First surprise is that it is flat, like two dimensional flat. That will not pose any issues, just not what I though. Also, the end of each feed rail is just slightly bent upwards- no doubt to prevent the pick ups from snagging.
I've wanted to build some dummy Catenary for years and years, finally going to step up and do it.
I went through a gondola phase, I just had to get as many as I could. But I rarely paid more than a buck or two for each. https://youtu.be/eAoFQ177_tI

Need buildings for your layout? Here is a lot of what appears to be 7 Plasticville USA building kits plus more signs, signals, ... for $69.50. Seller is advertising a Ralston Purina train set, but it looks like more buildings than cars.

Speaking of Golden Eagle sets, here's one that is much cheaper:https://www.ebay.com/itm/Tyco-Golden-Eagle-HO-Scale-Model-Train-Car-Set-Engine-Caboose-and-More/182869087659?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D49007%26meid%3Dc82c3b3439584058805fcddb9368c321%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D6%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D192322286122&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851
All the cars are included I think, but some of the accesories aren't present. Hope this helps someone!

Here is a pack of Tyco Mercury light poles. I like them, but they are not worth $25 plus s/h. I have several on my layout and about 26 extra. Will use more on the layout as I go... https://www.ebay.com/itm/TYCO-MERCURY-STREETLIGHTS-2-No-102-Sealed-on-the-original-blister-card/263291677238?hash=item3d4d682a36:g:8i4AAOSwCGVX7sI1

Well, this A Team set didn't sell. https://outlook.live.com/owa/?realm=hotmail.com&path=/mail/inbox/rp I do like that bloody nose Amtrak, but one can see the brush marks quite clearly on the blue stripe. I'd be a buyer at 25, not 45, though it is different.

Looks like two people wanted that bobber!!
The auction below is not funny, etc, it's a Tyco piece I will pick up some day. It's the Kellogg's hopper with the red A&B letters, found on some of these hoppers. Don't know why I want one but it's caught my eye... https://www.ebay.com/itm/Tyco-HO-Scale-Kelloggs-55-Center-Flow-Covered-Hopper-Car-52311/131980926565?hash=item1ebaad1e65:g:wjIAAOSwm0JYDg~M

Neat item, Walt! Nice find, indeed!
Anyone searching for some rare Tyco locomotives (i.e. the Santa Fe Blue Warbonnet C430 & Canadian Pacific F-Units)? Then, here is a seller which has some -- I believe it is the same seller who sold the Northern Pacific Sharknose.

I see what you're saying Walt. Looks like those pieces found their target price. Piggy backs can sneak up on a guy, I got so many (common) ones that I have to double head them.
Now this little grouping already has 3 bids on it. The Sanka Car at one time commanded $40, (now there seems to be a glut on the market). It's a nice grouping, will be interesting to see how hot this auction gets: https://www.ebay.com/itm/372127910083?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&fromMakeTrack=true

They didn't sell. I doubt they're worth more than $10 for the pile and then only if the buyer has an obession that day for the color yellor, UP, or gons. Then, you never know. I am tempted to make him an offer of $7.20, only problem is he might wake up and accept the offer and then I'd get stuck with them.

If anyone is looking for a potentially good price on a hard to find Green BN Tyco C430, there's one in this lot for parts: https://www.ebay.com/itm/BACHMANN-TYCO-ATHEARN-AHM-HO-SCALE-MODEL-TRAINS-DIESEL-LOCOMOTIVE-LOT-FOR-PARTS/112643224056?hash=item1a3a0f31f8:g:3UMAAOSwvTpaDNQQ
