I put this together last night while watching a little TV. It's a Tyco flat car with a couple of covered loads. I found the loads at my LHS for 2 bucks, the car was in a junk box I have. I had the scale chains to hold the load down with train parts in storage.

Intriguing first up, eaglerock, and well executed. So what exactly are the loads that are covered or more importantly, what do you imagine them to be?

I don't think so eaglerock They look more like semi trucks to me If you look at one on the right it a trailer hitch! Plus the shapes look like Tyco's single axle cab-over Kenworth semis anyway

Here's a find that Tony Cook tipped me to:

Supposedly rare/scarce Chessie System 40' High Cube, as released by AHM as an uncataloged sneaker. An incorrect scheme as far as Chessie boxcars go - chessie's only yellow boxcars were insulated - but it sure looks nice. Similar graphics to the ubiquitous Bachmann 50' plugger. Indeed, some unique traits to this particular Ches-C logo peg this as a Kader-made item.
There's also one major goof on this car. Or maybe a bit of clairvoyance? At any rate it seems AHM accidentally predicted the merger that formed CSX some 10 years before it happened:

Family Lines (SCL/L&N/etc) renamed themselves to Seaboard System... and merged with Chessie System to form CSX.

This week I'm going for the Union Pacific Maintenance of Way light car by Bachmann. I always thought this looked so cool as a kid. I remember how disappointed I was when I saved up and got it and realized the light barely works, is super touchy and only really puts out light if the transformer is turned almost all the way up.
I wonder if I could put it on an isolated siding powered by a separate transformer and have a crew doing some work.

Cars like that light car really capture the spirit of the ready-to-run 80s era. I know I spent hours drooling over Bachmann and Life-Like ads featuring numerous action accessories and scenes, only to find the reality less than desirable. But it was still a lot of fun, and got me hooked on the hobby.

I decided a few days ago it was time to switch things up a little bit and get a new passenger train on the tracks. So off come the black and white streamliners, and on come these green beauties
This is one of my Athearn heavyweights.

Those CN heavyweights are gorgeous, Cheez. They go well with the autumn colors.
