I am trying to understand when Tyco put front pony wheels on the 638 chatt or when they stopped. I see pictures of them with and without the wheels???

Maybe on the "not have" Chats photo'd, they are just missing, and people don't know or care, they still run them.

EDIT - 2 minutes later - Well, I looked at my boxed Chat 638, and it doesn't have the two wheels up front. The unit looks mint, and has the smoke bottle and funnel still in the box, so I guess it came as an 0-8-0. Looks like there's room for the front pilot truck, though. Maybe some are yard switchers, and some are road engines. LOL.
