How do I take this apart without hurting it? Need to replace whatever broke on motor plus REPLACE motor with CD motor
Smokie has the same type of trucks So I'll follow his instructions to replace motor

That loco has all snap in and out parts. You can see the black tabs sticking out of there retaining holes.

I believe some of the engines are harder to get apart than others, also according to a poster who mentioned the different Tyco engines and their disassembly toughness. The ones with higher tabs are the tougher ones, because you have to pry the shell apart further up to release the tab. Hopefully the shell isn't brittle, and you also don't "inadvertently" put your thumb on the step and break it off trying to get some purchase to pry them apart. I think using a couple of chinese chop sticks to slide up on either side would work ok, or a pair of butter knives. Good luck, I have a "rocky" RI Shark to get apart, and a UP something as well.

Can get a motor already from my supplier,Smokie
Here is E-7 with motor chassis removed

The main wire came off oops Oh well Better access to remove motor
Is there a way to remove the plastic insert for the headlight?
UPDATE: Original motor to be fixed by weekened
