Need to introduce myself. I posted a couple pics in a set of the week thread here: http://www.tycoforums.com/tyco/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=9121
I'm currently working on a small 4x6' HO layout for my 2 kids to enjoy. I've got several other cars and Locos, but this set is special because it was my Dad's, them mine. It was made in 1959, so it's been around a while.
I look forward to learning more about Tycos, model trains, and the folks on this forum. So far, so good!

Welcome, I'm from Alabama too, although I'm in the northern central part near Huntsville.

Hopefully "enjoy" means operate, and not destroy. LOL. I enjoyed mine as a child, and was never wont to play "crash and burn", but many boys did. One of my boyhood friends liked doing that, and I quit going to play with him after he damaged some of mine doing that unexpectedly. I couldn't afford to replace mine like he could his.
Anyway, hope your kids enjoy it in a good fashion, and your layout is up and operating soon. Always good to break out the old train set and get it in motion again.

Enjoy 35Rem,
Jerry, I can relate to the crash & burn stuff as a kid. I had a decent tabletop train & slot car set with 2 road & rail crossings and 2 intersections for the slot cars! It was a disaster! A crash at an intersection would send the slot cars smahing into trees, signs or buildings! The train / slot car crashes were brutal too! I hate to think of how much Tyco related train cars, slot cars & scenery that we destroyed back then... Train steps breakage was common plus much more. Today if I broke a Tyco train step I would feel horrible! But, as kids, we had a lot of fun doing it!

Thanks for the replies. The layout table is almost ready to start track layout. I'll take some pics before that starts.
Like I said, it's a 4x6 HO layout. Made to slide inder the king size bed, so there won't be any tall hills or bridges. Something for me and the kiddos to enjoy.

Welcome. A word of warning: I started out with the small, hide-it-under-the-bed layout when I got my stuff out for my daughter. Within a year we were filling up the garage. It's addictive.
