Here's one to get us in the Halloween spirit with its black and orange colors:
This came in a lot with the Tyco little six I showed a couple weeks ago and two BL2s. It looks better in real life. The camera flash kind of faded it out in the picture.

This one came in yet another box lot (surprise...) only needing a set of rails bent for it and a new horn (cobbled from the remains of a TYCO one...).

I'll throw in a Mantua UP Grey Goose Collectible. I had one and was able to pick up a second. I added DCC to this one and left the other one stock.

So the Halloween colours were your idea, b77? Neato. I love your C-Liner but what, pray tell, is that proboscis on the front? AHM really led with their chin on that one! Nice switcher, shaygetz. What kind is it? I mean prototype not brand. And a magnificent Mantua from eaglerock. I really have to get one of these metal pacifics soon.

Its an Athearn "SW1500" - actually an SW7 - Athearn created these under the premise that the then new SW1500 model from EMD (1966) would be using an SW7 carbody - based on ads EMD was using at the time to advertise and announce it. The model was relabled as it really is in 1990 when Athearn launched their true SW1500 model. Incidentally the cow and calf version is known as model TR4. Larry

LOL ole Irv didnt bother to correct it for years and same goes for the "GP9" that is really a GP7. It took 41 years to fix that. The Athearn SW7 ("SW1500") is one of my favorites of the older blue box units. I have 11 "cows" and 7 "calfs" Larry

Dummy? I've been called far worse! Right, so it's an SW7 masquerading as an SW1500, gotcha. Does that mean the pre-'90 SW1500 is a collector's item because of the error or is it more akin to those F7's pretending to be F9's?

I don't think the SW-7 rates "collector" status just yet. At least, no more then most other blue-box locos do. They don't seem to sell for very much on ebay.

Here's my "halloween" contribution. An Athearn Western Pacific SW7 (TR4) cow-calf set from 2001. A rarely seen/found pair as these were produced for a very short time before the model was discontinued. Larry

Exactly - however certain roadnames can be difficult to find - including Burlington (the original release 1966-1978) WP, RI, NS, EL and Chessie and CB&Q (new release) - the latter names being done in one run in 2001 right before the model was dropped. Larry

I'm a little late to the party this week Cool stuff guys.
I spent a few hours today going through my pile of Tyco CN F-7's, cutting, pasting, and doing what I could to get a nice trio. Here's what I came out with:
The 5628 needed the two front ladders replaced. Other than that the only thing I did was clean the wheels and fix the back coupler (the last guy put it on upsidedown). The 6536 I converted to a dummy, replaced a ladder and replaced the rear coupler. I'd still like to go back and touch up the nose paint. The B-unit was in perfect shape.
