Found this Bobber Caboose yesterday on a trainshow, made new windows

and changed couplers.

Was very surprised about what was in the caboose after lifting shell!

Found this pewter figures in it.

One conductor, one postman, one with ski´s.

I love those little bobbers. Are the guys inside playing keepaway with the mail?

I bought one at a small show during the summer that has the tiny litttle Lionel "L" on the sides. It's so small that I didn't realize that until after I got it home and looked at it with a loupe. Rossi only made them for a year or two for the Lionel HO line, IIRC.

Now I found out that the figures are made by Marklin ca. 1950! Funny! - Erich

There was a company here in the US that sold similar painted cast metal figures. They came packaged the same way as what is shown. The company was Authenacast. I know somewhere I still have some of the figures but no longer the packageing. I do have a flat car body that they also released. A small depressed center flat car, cast metal, maybe 34 scale feet long. The car I just reciently but a transformer load on. They also made flat car loads. I have a gererator load that has a cover on it. The cover is part of the casting. They also made a large gear with mounting supports very much like, if not the same as the Selley one.

I wonder if the figures were used simply to for weight? Seems like a waste since you couldn't see them through the windows.

I like the pose though: "How many railroaders does it take to change a lightbulb...."
