Look ma, wires! My name is tykowolf and I'm addicted to GG-1's. There, that feels much better.
Pennsylvania 4880 scoots away from Rico Station, southward bound to the nation's capital. IHC Premier Dual Motored GG-1, a sleek machine in stunning silver. Looks swell, runs sweet, can't of asked for anything more. The catenary system is non-operational because the future is digital and I've heard they don't play nice together. Until then, it's N.Y.C. to D.C. in a DC GG-1!

An Atlas N scale 0-4-0 from 1972 I recently picked up, I repaired its pilot with a conversion kit put out by Kadee at around the same time...

I think you've been hanging out with Ben too long...
Here's my Pocher - Rivarossi J.W. Bowker with a can motor in the tender, all RP25 wheels, and a Miniatronics micro bulb in the headlamp with a reflector behind it to simulate an oil lamp.

Here's a puzzling find from early summer:

This GP20 is NOT a repaint. Now, a limited number of GP20 undec kits were made, but they all used black shells. The shell on this one is green. The paint is a low-quality flat white, which has chipped in a few places.
So - who painted this? Tru-Scale, or Tyco/Mantua? The style and application of the Tru-Scale logo is very typical of Tyco - right down to the shade of red and the application process. The standard Tyco GP20 road# is also telling. Tru-Scale sold a limited line of freight cars, but AFAIK dindn't use a loco to display them for catalogs. So what was the point of this guy? Employee promo? Catalog photo shoot? Mail-away offer?
Too bad I don't have a piece of Tru-Scale's signature track to display it on, oops.

What a great variety this week!
tykowolf may be addicted to GG1s, but I'm addicted to BL2s. Here's my latest two. These are what I was actually bidding on when I got last week's loco. Turns out it was a much better find than these, but I still like them.

Strewth, Atlas steamers and Roundhouse diesels, what will they think of next! The pseudo oil lamp on Nickleplate's Bowker is clever and cool, crafty continentals. B77, the first step is admitting you have a problem. Step away from the BL2's... once you have them all, of course.

You can NEVER have too many BL-2's, Tykowolf. Besides, there's always some with custom road-names. B77, how many customs do you have? I have BL-2s with a Pennsy scheme, B&O, a green and yellow custom R.R. I'm sure there's others out their lurking. I even bought one someone was trying to double-end, like a GG1. Wasn't finished, but I got the two siamesed shells.

Thanks Money and time always seems to be the issue with this stuff. That section of my layout took 3 years to get to ..........(it's not finished yet either...) Ah well, baby steps

Thanks, TWolf. I had a bugger of a time routing the wires through the loco. I had to run them through a thin piece of clear electronic tubing, and glue it to the underside of the boiler weight to keep them out of the gearing. I made a constant lighting circuit out of diodes that has it lit in both directions, since oil lamps didn't shut off in reverse. I gave the lantern interior quite a few coats of silver until the light didn't leak through anymore, then glued a piece of chrome confetti inside as a reflector.
Cheez, how does that Cab Forward run?

A little bumpy. I have a few steamers with a bounce in their step...one day I'll figure out how to fix this.

Actually, I have zero customs. In fact, I'm not a big fan of customs overall, unless it's something I do myself. And even then, I couldn't bring myself to cut up a perfectly good BL2. I've been looking for the MoPac one for a while.
As for the lifetime of collecting, let's hope we all have many happy years and build big collections. Remember, he who dies with the most toys wins.

It's probably the traction tires. Some of Rivarossi's could be uneven enough to make the engine really rock back & forth. I had a Pacific that I thought had a quartering problem because it shook so much, but it went away when I replaced the tires.

Jerry, if you like BL-2 bashes, check out this monster. It actually looks somewhat plausible.

dammit, now you made me go and bid on it. I didn't find a single BL-2 reference , so a search wouldn't have found it. Looks awesome, I like it, like a nubby GG1. Hope I don't have to fight off B77..wait, he said he wasn't into customs. Whew! I'm safe, then. LOL. Thanks for the link, bud!

It looks like the lovechild of a GG1 and a BL-2 that would have given the FM Trainmaster a run for it's money. Good luck on the auction! (I wonder how it runs?)
