Hey Guys:
Was at a swap meet today and picked up three things:
One was an Etched Brass CNR Steamer cab replacememnt kit. (Pics later)
two was a Lettering/Decal catalouge with Locomotive and Rolling stock diagrams
and finally an actual Locomotive, a Tyco Hong Kong GG-1 in "Black Jack" theme. Pristine and only $10! Wasn't in this unemployed persons budget but I reasoned hey ya gotta do a flyer once in a while and this is one of my fave Tyco's!

Have a Good `un guys!

Shaygetz, I love electrics and your Alligator is an afternoon delight! However, my heart will always belong to Pennsy's flagship, the fiercesome GG-1. Excellent Tyco example, romcat.
For LOTW, I'm also going with the PRR:
Seems you really can't have too many F-units after all! These Model Power metal F7A's are top notch and run a lot like Proto 1000's. Brunswick green is freaky. Doesn't look green until near something that actually isn't then all of a sudden it is! Weird. One last thing, the couplers are very long but a little short shank redemption should remedy that.

I love the 2-6-2, Mike!!!
"Railway Days" find for $5

Noting the circle " L "

I was told this was Lionel's last signature before selling the mould/mold to Athearn or Globe.
All this loco needs are the rubber bands.
Thank you.
I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

Just wondering;
Does anyone else see a slight slope to the the front of the (Navy) Husky cab. Could it be a photo distortion?
I just looked at a late 50's Hustler I have and it seems clearly vertical. I don't know where my Lionel Husky is but can someone do a side by side?
Be interesting if there was that slight difference though it would have meant a mold modification....

Hi Romcat,
I do see the distortion you are talking about. I think there may have been some over heating of the motor as you can see some warping on the walkway and access doors as well. All of mine have no slope to the cab.

Hi Mike:
Yeah I saw the distortion you mentioned. I thought the slope of the cab front was too uniform for heat to be the culprit.

My best guess is the missing paint chip on the corner. When viewed from the right angle & lighting, will create the illusion of a rounded edge.
Otherwise,,Whotta score! I have never seen a Hustler/switcher in a Navy Yard paint scheme before.

Here is the Navy Hustler with Work Caboose. Both made for Lionel only By Athearn.. The Work Caboose was missing the Tool Bins. Put Undec ones on, will paint to match some day. Carl

This week I'm showing the Alco that I repowered recently. There's a thread on this topic, just look under "AHM Coffee Grinder." My posts tell the difficulty I had fitting the motor into the shell. After all is said and done, it's a great loco. It runs smooth at any speed, except for a little wheel spin at the start. I'm going to have to replace the traction tires eventually.

B77, I read about your difficulties getting the motor to fit under the shell in the other thread, and it's one of two things: either the motor you used is longer, or you didn't seat it completely. My repowered truck will fit in the RS-2 and Alco 1000 with room to spare.
Love the 31005, Ken.

NickelPlate: it's seated all the way down, and it's the same number motor you used. The thing I'm seeing is that this loco is entirely different than the one you've got pictured in that thread. Yours has a plastic chassis with the handrails attached to it. Mine has a flat metal chassis, and the shell with the handrails fits down over it. I think that's the difference...they're two different locos.
I'll try to post some pictures.
Just when I'd given up on this board...here's something to talk about!

I bouht one of these 20 years ago, that was painted in MoPac blue. It was a custom paint job. I only paid $8.00 for it at the time at a swap meet. That was a steal back then for a custom painted piece.

That's what I was trying to tell you, B77. That same truck is now in my RS-2, and it clears the shell easily. The top of the motor shaft misses the inside of the hood by about 1/8".

I'm smacking myself on the head now. Thanks for drilling that into my head. I apparently have lost the ability to read.
So now I don't know what the difference is...I know the motor was seated all the way down. Some time I'll take it apart again and investigate.

Everybody gets one.
I get to skimming myself because I end up with too many emails and threads to go thru, and good seldom comes of it.
If you ground down the ridges in the truck housing and opened the bearing hole, and the motor is an FK-130, then I have no idea what's going on.
