Theme of the Week; Most expensive piece of Rolling Stock that isn't Brass!
Mine's a caboose. Made by Rapido, it just arrived in the mail the other day.
Before shipping and taxes it was $59.95 The S&H and taxes added almost another 20!
Now I know since it was a limited run and there won't be anymore of this series I can flip it next year for over twice that. Lit detailed interior... It's a beaut.

I hope the buyer's regret goes away eventually!

Hmmmm.....I'm really going to have to think about this one. I don't really have any high-end stuff, so I guess I'll just have to pick "the best of the worst."

Nice caboose...my beloved would gut me with a dull deer antler if I parted with that kinda coin for a caboose...

Hey Guys:
Well the excuse on the "Van" is it's the best HO scale Angus CP Van ever made for public release. It's that simple and oh yeah I was stil working at the time. Wouldn't buy it now! But it's here.
Shay that's an Atlas unit isn't it? What did that set you back, (I won't tell the Mrs.!)
Ken: I have one of the Steamies. I think i paid was less for it than the Caboose! I likely won't keep it (The Caboose). It's trade bait for a vintage swap next year some time...

Hey Ken:
My Steamy car was I think $29.99 NIB on sale from a LHS that was moving to a new location. Mine is the Canadian National 1950's scheme. You're not kidding about KFC inthe UK! In 1991 I picked up a 10 pice box from a KFC in QueensFerry, Wales. It was 7.99Lbs Sterling! About $15 Canadian at the time, 20 YEARS AGO!!! Today???

Well, ok, I guess I DO have a piece I bought about 5 years ago, paid $108 for it. Came from Europe, a co-worker traveled overseas, and I wanted one of those Euro Autoloader bi-level cars. They're not cheap over there, either, apparently! I'm not sure where I have it stored, nor do I have a pic of it, but it looks something similar to THIS -

I think mine had VW and Mercedes cars on it.

Here's my contribution to the most cash for rolling stock, it's a Lionel Sunoco tanker, it came MIB. Haven't told the wife what it cost yet, I have two of these. Running a close second is another Lionel, the Mercury capsule car.

Okay, most of this stuff's out of my league. Here's a set that seemed expensive at the time:

They were an Athearn special edition set I got some time in the early 90's. I was a young teenager paying for stuff by mowing yards and trying to stretch my money between comic books, CD's, and trains, among other things. I think the set cost nearly $30, but I could be wrong. It seemed like a lot at the time.

Yes, those Lionel HO space and rocket cars go for quite a bit, I've eye'd that capsule car on Ebay, but they usually sell for $50 or more, so too much for me right now. I'm trying to build up a NASA / space themed consist, I bought some customized tankers 5 years or so ago from a guy on Ebay. These would go nice with those, but not in my budget these days. Thanks for sharing!

Woah, most of these cars cost more than my locos! AMC, Dude!, how could you lose track of a Euro Autoloader? Mine would be kept under lock and key which I do with the cheap stuff anyway. Can't afford to buy it twice.
For most valuable car of the week, the winner is:
My brand new Bachmann Spectrum heavyweight passenger set that would sell individually for around 20 bucks a car. Okay, maybe not worth their weight in gold but they hold great sentimental value so are priceless to me at least. I shall treasure their lighted interiors and detailed exteriors till death us do part.
