I picked up three cabeese today at the local train show. The Tyco reverse blue stripe bicentennial is obvious (not in this photo), but no markings on these other two. The second bicentennial came in a Life like boxcar box, and the yellow and black all-metal caboose was loose, and missing a truck, which is sprung on the one present. any help appreciated

Hey Jerry:
I think Ken nailed the So76 Caboose it matches the theme of their F7 So76 unit perectly.
As to the other caboose because of it's age, not the model but being an ouside braced unit, I'm interested in a possible trade. Unless of course if you're wild about it.

Jerry, The yellow and black all metal Caboose is a MDC (Model Die Casting) outside braced Caboose. Nice find.. You do not find diecast metal cabooses in good condition. Carl

Not sure about "wild", but I AM collecting some all-metal cars like Varney and others, simply because they are metal, and from a different modeling era. I won't say no to a possible trade, but I don't intend to give it up right now. :) This is one of my first all-metal cabooses, although I may have another somewhere, I don't remember. This is definitely of an early era, ie outside bracing, so I may use it on my early-era consist someday. Again, if you come up with a possible trade item I want, I'll listen, but for now, it's a hold-on-to car.

Hey, thanks for the ID, buddy. I thought it was(a nice find), too. I'll have to contact my junk-box buddy to see if he has one of those specially sprung trucks so I can complete the caboose to operational status.

a WORKING leaf spring? That's what these are, they have two copper or brass formed faux springs, they clip onto two little metal nubs top and bottom on the truck to spring it from the axle bar. Neat little set-up, never seen it before, I don't think.

The Life-Like cabeese are easy to spot. They're all that same shape.
The metal one is much more interesting. I've only got one piece of metal rolling stock, and it's never been assembled.
