i've been building this room for the past three or four months. i had never done drywall, but now i can. lol that stuff was a pain untile i learned a few tricks. it's carpeted, insulated, painted, & done! the only thing i need to do is get some shelves built for my O & HO trains, get my tables for the trains built, then start laying some fargin track.
my camera sucks so overlook it.

That looks very nice. My layout is in a non climate-controlled shed, so your room looks like a mansion to me.

it's not heated or air conditioned. i bought a small heater for it for the winter, & in the summer i'll put a window air conditioner in. this room is in the upstairs of my garage that i started building a couple of years ago. the garage is a two story 28'x28'. the room is a quarter of the upstairs (13'9"x13'9"). me and my sister-n-laws boyfriend built it from the ground up. he did the block work & i did everything else. looks good considering i'm not a carpenter & thats the first thing i ever built. i did insulate the walls, & the ceiling, & that was one reason i had carpet put in. plus it will kill some noise. that one room in top of the garage is nicer than the rest of my house. i've done heard it from the wife.

Hi Smokie,

You have done some very nice work. I may have missed it if you posted about the layout plan. Will it be an around the room plan or an island or a combo? looks like you have plenty of room for shelves of trains on the walls.

To be honest, I'm jealous! LOL! Really I am very happy for you. I think that haveing your own sweat pour out makeing this room will make it even more satisfying when it is all set up.

Enjoy
Mike

Really nice job on your train space, Smokie. And if the wife is still miffed, now you can spend the night up there instead of on the couch.

i have done been informed i'm going to build another room right beside of this one.

i've not made up my mind on the layout yet. i've thought about a two level 5x7 in the corner between the windows for the ho scale, & another 2 level 5x10 for my lionels on the long wall. i've thought about a u shaped layout with ho on top & o gage on the bottom. i've thought of an island type layout too on an 8x8, but i don't have a clue yet what i'll do. idea's are very welcome, many brains are better than one.
