I am new to this forum and goofing with Tyco Trains although I have a set for 30 years. Is anyone in this forum aware of anywhere to get replacement gears for Tyco engines? The main gear on the 0-8-0 Steam Locomotive seems to be the one that wears out first. Any leads appreciated. And thanks, Steve, for your reply and possible replacement part.

I assume you're talking about the small metal gear, which is called the pinion. The easiest way to get one is to buy and old diesel PowerTorque truck on eBay or at a train show, or maybe someone here has some spares.
If it's just slipping on the motor shaft, it can be glued in place as is being discussed in another thread. Degrease the pinion and shaft first.

Nelson, thanks for your reply. This is acutally a plastic gear. It measures 18mm o.d. and has an 8 tooth 4mm o.d. gear at the shaft on one side and a smooth gear on the other side. It is the largest of the tooth gears in the assembly. Hard to find.

Gotcha. That would be the reduction gear, or could even be called a bull gear. I would still look for a used power truck, though.

I'm a dummy on this and searched eBay for Power Torque truck and came up 0. Not sure what a power torque truck or power truck that you are referring to is...

You're not likely to find it labeled such on eBay, but that's what Tyco called these trucks with pancake motors that they used in all of their locos in the 70's, aside from the bigger steamers.
Here's an auction for a beater Silver Streak that would have the gear you need.
