I believe that Microbusss Ben is going to buy this fine kit!
Several years ago I bought my sealed boxed Burger King for $56.00. The plus was it was in an ebay auction with three other new Tyco kits. The other three were more common kits. However, I felt like I got a bargain.

Yes it will sell, especially because it's factory sealed and the Tyco release of this mold. I believe this was also released under the AHM brand.
I missed one of these by seconds about 2 weeks ago. Someone put one up as a BIN for $25, I went to purchase it and it was gone.

I bet this sells, and I think its a sign of the desperate times we're in. GRAB IT NOW! IT MAY BE GONE SOON!
All kidding aside though, it's not like there's anything comparable that's widely available to the average consumer these days. I don't think we're that far from model railroading as a "second hand" hobby, where we all buy/sell/trade in old merchandise, and very little or nothing is manufactured new. Heck, I'm already there.

Burlington77 sounds a lot like me talking about buying the older merchandise. However, that is the theme behind my whole planned layout. My goal was to recreate my 1970s layout and buy all the old Tyco trains & Life-Like buildings I had back then. I ended up buying tons more than I had back then, but all of it is of the same era and manufacturers. I will switch to using Atlas silver track this time, and I'm not even sure of it's dates of being produced. My combined Tyco slot car track is all pre 1971.
When I'm finished with my layout I will be 14 years old again...

I'm going to go against the, "this will sell" opinions and say that I don't think this will sell. I am posting now to allow myself plenty of time to be WRONG.
My reason for thinking this is a no sale item is this. I have seen over the years, many Ebay auctions that start out with a fairly high opening bid, not sell. I believe this takes the fun out of an auction for many people who does not have the $45 funds. Many bidders would place a lesser bid than $45 in hopes of maybe a win.
If I had a BK kit to sell, I would start the auction at 99 cents or less. I already know it's going to sell for a decent price. This gives everybody at least a fair shot at it. Sometimes the low opening bid invites a bidding war and a big sale price.
That's just my opinions guys, I could be wrong!

No, you're right about the bidding. Low starting bids can bring big results.
I really wanted to respond to your comment that you will use Atlas silver track this time. It struck me becaus I think a lot of "serious modelers" even frown on that. I remember a time when I thought an Athearn loco and Atlas track were the greatest things ever, but I don't think most people think that way anymore.

I'm glad you replied Burlington77. I will be the the first to admit that I have "very limited" knowledge about HO trains. All I really know is I had a whole bunch of fun with the old Tyco layout in the 70s and I just enjoy having them around again!
I have not purchased any train track yet. I do remember enough about the brass track I used in the past to know I want something better today. Before I buy any track I will look for a thread on the forum (or create one) to find what track works best , or perferences by the members here. I have heard of many talk about Atlas Code 100 I believe it is.. again, I know nothing about it either. I want to have a nice running, worry & maintainace free train track as posible. I welcome any PMs for info on the track I need to buy.

| Walt--Just to be clear, I'm all for Atlas Nickel Silver. I run Atlas Nickel Silver almost completely on my little layout, and I did on my old one as well. I use old brass for dead end sidings and stuff like that. It's always worked well for me, and the price is right. The only issue is with the switches. Some things, like Tycos, don't like to go over them. It has to do with the plastic frog and Tyco's pickup wheel arrangement. Other than that issue, I'm completely happy with their track. The reason I mentioned it is that a lot of guys this days think it's out of scale and prefer more fancy track. If you're used to Tyco track, Atlas NS will be a great upgrade. It requires a lot less cleaning. If you're looking for perfect realism, you might look at others . By the way...code 100 refers to the size of the track. All our old tyco was code 100. Smaller codes mean smaller rails, which is technically more "realistic" but costs more. Any code 100 track will be compatible, except when you get into the different roadbed tracks like EZ track.

I was one who thought it would. It must be the economy. No way the Pizza Hut goes for that much. I bet you if the seller started the Burger King at 9.99 he would have ended up getting his $45.

I agree...when I post on eBay, I always start at 99 cents now. It never ceases to amaze me what a sales difference and final bid price that simple move made. I'll never post above 99 cents again.

I agree NYC & Shaygetz. There's no reason at all to list a Tyco item with an extreme high price. Like NYC says, start the bidding reasonable & you'll get the price it's worth.
Shaygetz, I too start the bidding very low. It creates excitment and sometimes starts a bidding war, with the item selling for more than usual...

I see instances of that all the time; when more than one of the same item are selling at the same time, the one with the lower starting bid usually get the higher winning bid.
Still, $45? I think you can start a Burger King franchise for less than that.

Still NO SALE on the $40-$45 Burger King or the $85 Pizza Hut on the second time auctions! These two kits would have easily already sold without the greed factor, and just with a fair opening bid.

People need to pay their rent, or mortgage, so maybe they think it's worth more. LOL. I don't know. Obviously people have money to spend, I've been wanting to buy a Penn Line GG1, but haven't seen any go for under $50-60 yet. They're '50's units with a cast metal body. I finally got an unfinished, flashing still intact unpainted body only for $8, but it has (mis-)casting holes in it on one side. Some things are still highly sought after, just not as much as '75-76 Tyco Catalogs. ROFL. Anyway, I think some Tyco stuff has seen a price increase, but there's still cheap stuff out there. I guess it depends on the type of item you're looking for, Bubble Yums will obviously sell for more than non-rare Tyco items anyway.

| I experimented with opening bids a few years ago and I have discovered the same thing. I usually use 99 and 9.99 for more valuable items I do this made sense to me because when I see something like that I only look at it to laugh. I did the 9.99 with a cary sw1500 shell and got a 65 dollar final. It makes way more sense to list low becuase it cost way less and if it doesnt sell you are out pennies instead of dollars.
