Hey Ben, I used to buy the "Mini Lindys" back in the 70's. They're a cool line of little cars & trucks. I don't know what scale they actually are. I liked the Mail Truck and their semi truck that I did use on my layout back then..

Whatever scale they fall under, my opinion is they are a neat group. Kinda expensive to buy these days if they are new in the box... They are small kits that you have to assemble that come in a small decorated box with picture.

As a previous poster said, they're from the '70s. The scale varies, just like Matchbox and Hotwheels, the trucks are closer to HO, the cars are more like S gauge / 1/64th, because of the 3-inch standard size they made all vehicles to back then. I have a Gremlin mini Lindy, cost me $14 and it's partly broken. They are rather sought after, so you won't often get them cheap, except maybe the trucks or damaged examples. The cars are very popular with collectors, and finding mint plastic cars like these is tough. The trucks should be cheaper, though. $4 was a good deal. Search Ebay obviously, mini lindy is a good search term to use.

Cool. I've never seen these, but I'm headed to a garage sale tomorrow morning that's advertising "70's toys" in the paper. One more thing to look for.

I really like these cars & trucks. The only thing bad is (if I remember correctly) you can get some really weird color combos mainly on the trucks. Like gettting a yellow, or red mail truck... etc..

However, a great bunch of cars & truck & memories...

Hi All,

I had not heard of these until the last year or so. I have 2 in good shape and 1 ready for the junk yard. I think they are very nifty little cars. I try to stick to Matchbox cars but every now and then a Linberg, Hot Wheel, Playart, Tootsietoy, Tomica, Lone star, Corgi, Maisto, Yat Ming or other gets in, LOL!

I was going to post pictures, but as usual, it was more of a PAIN than it is worth. Too many hoops to jump thru to get a stupid picture posted.

I like that Mail Truck and when I said expensive, I think $25 may be about top dollar for certain models. That's not really a large amount but considering we used to buy these for 39 cents! The mail truck is small but a neat model...

Boy, those bring back memories. We used to vacation at Indian lake the Adirondacks when I was a kid, and the local store had Mini-Lindys, so I bought and built a few of them, like the Ford pickup. I generally wasn't allowed to have glue and paints with me, so the fact that they were snap together was a plus.

Darn, now I have a yen for a sack of Gold Rush Gum.

Here's another picture with more models in it , including the Postal truck. Doesn't show the Gremlin or the AMX, though.
