Has anyone here had any experience with Jouef? I have a set of their 'Orient Express' coaches and have just bought (on Ebay) a Jouef SNCF diesel #67001, that I think SHOULD pull them. I'm wondering if the couplers are probably the same, and also what the loco mechanism will look like. Thanks

My SNCF 6505 C-C Broken Nose has essentially a slot car motor truck mounted in a metal frame that is a beast to maintain, it is an awful runner---but---it looks great on a shelf...

| Yes, I only paid $18 for it, so am well-prepared for it to be a shelf display with the coaches, but keeping fingers crossed. I haven't been able to find out much, but it does seem they used different drive systems over the years.

Just got the Jouef diesel in this evening. Looks nice, and the mechanism works better than I expected. There's a pretty decent-sized open-pole motor on one truck, with a worm gear driving the axle gear. So it's only 2-wheel drive! But it has traction tires, and good electrical pickup, so doesn't run too badly.

That wouldn't fit...I wish it could...the best case would be replacing it with a small dual shaft motor of some kind.

I think that European railways used a cupola on some passenger cars so the conductor,or guard could observe the signals ahead. I have a N scale baggage car for the German Rheingold train that has the same type of cupola.

I love Jouef trains. They are hard to find in my area. I nearly bid on that loco myself. That is a good price. Jouef had several mechanisms over the years including clockwork. Some ran just fine and some were "quirky". There is an excellent engilsh language website I think it is www.joueftrains.com. It is really worth checking out. The flanges on all mine are big just like in the pictures so I only run mine on my outer loop that doesnt have any switches. What kind of switches do you use?

I gotcha. I thought you meant a pancake motor. Maybe something meant for N scale would fit.

Even a good NWSL motor , the smallest they sell, would be a very difficult fit. Like TYCO, much of the frame and motor are integrated like a bad virus.

My loop has a C100 Shinohara double crossover that they traverse on just fine. I also pull them with my Marklin on their old 3 rail "M" track with no problems at turnouts.
