Got this from another club member some time ago, had an incorrect shell on it, didn't fit, so I'm trying to ID this chassis now that I'm trying to get it going. It has 38018 cast under the motor, but that hasn't helped me find any reference to it. Has two offset nubs on each side, so the shell can only fit one way. I think it may be a Proto chassis, but not sure. Any ideas? I rewired it temporarily to run, smooth and quiet, now just needs a body for it. Had a GP40-2 ? body sitting on it, CSX #6383 , can't find any reference to what HO maker that was, either.

Hey, thanks! Looks like you nailed it. I couldn't find any reference from a day's worth of searching. Helps to seek help sometimes. My choice of shells is limited, it appears, but the Pennsylvania shell would work for me. Now if I can just find one. Much obliged, fellow modeler!

I found a couple BN shells as well, and since I have a BN consist that needs an engine, DCC capable that is, I am watching both of those, as well as the SP. Thanks for the link!

| Ken is right on target, it's an Athearn. Sometimes referred to as unknown on eBay. I wonder to this day why Athearn never stamped their name on anything, especially when you're dealing with a pretty solid product.
