This trip to Italy is really going out with a train blowout...I found a big box of train stuff at the antique/junk sale up on the main street today here in Castiglion Fiorentino where the study center is. It was only 15 euro!
When I got it back it turned out to be Lima, just like my FS Trenitalia electric and cars I bought in Florence. It's a DeutscheBahn diesel, a Trans Euro Nacht sleeper, and a DB auto carrier.

As far I can tell it's what's left of a night train starter set of some kind. The engine has a pancake motor that suspiciously resembles my Bachmann units, but it actually runs, considering the auto carrier looks like it's been bombed and the sleeper has quite a few scratches. The whole thing was caked with dust when I first brought it back. The track is quite interesting, being a mix of regular code 100 and a lot of older Rivarossi tube-rail track, including two short transition pieces so you can use both kinds together.

All in all, well worth the 15 euro, as I was about to spend $20 or more for another passenger car in Florence! Three for one isn't bad. My display for the open house tomorrow including my train station drawings and model should be a show stopper!
