200 hundred miles to the north, in beautiful Plasticville, New Hampster, #47 toodles a fresh cut of logs into the siding. Extra measures were taken to relocate the resident spotted owls to a new home.

I attached a remote camera to a sea gull to get this bird's eye view of #57 in her duties. This rubber band transmission is rare among locomotives, but it works just great.

A VERY odd camera angle, if that's a church in Wisconsin. That water in the background sure looks like the Soo Locks.
Ignore my obnoxious nit-picking. That's a beautiful model in a beautiful setting. I like the big granite boulders supporting the front lawn. They look like something from the north country, as does that undulating blacktop road.

Scsshaggy - Very good! That is the Soo Locks. Back ground was a family project. Wife snapped the picture, I photoshopped including adding buildings to the other end and my one son who was at the time a graphic artist borrowed his employer's printer to print it off. The Fox River Valley Railroad is set in Wisconsin but there is no attempt to replicate any real places. I pretty much borrowed place names. Thanks for the compliments! Better shot of the back drop.

Good morning, my name is Geraldine and I would like to share photos I took in New Jersey recently.
Some very old cars heading east toward Bergen Point NJ.
Old but clean engine with train consist heading back to Trenton NJ. Some of my friends told me they had a wonderful time in Bergen Point. They were impressed with the staff and crew at Frankford shops who conducted the tours there. A great day for all.

That's a spectacular scene. Just as an aside, I had a friend (now deceased) who grew up near the Black River. He was an interesting guy. With only 8 years of formal education, he invented the telescoping crane, among other things.

Superb night shots. The lonely, tired commuter on the last train in.
Here in El Paso, speaking of night, we have a restored 1857 American Type, only a static display, like a stuffed rhinoceros. The question is what lit its 1857 lamp? Did they run trains at night pre-1860's. Was kerosene widely available? Did they use whale oil?
One partial answer was that the lantern, or early headlight, was not used to illuminate the right of way, but instead to warn pedestrian and drover traffic!

I'm pretty sure kerosene existed by the 1860's. I believe there was also a coal derived lamp oil.
The old oil headlamps were said to be just bright enough to show you what you were just about to hit.
