After a few hours we travel to nearby Cold Spring Valley to see a dependable solar powered vehicle transporting the local citizens to finish up their various errands before nightfall.
Entering the station in the early afternoon.
At a stop by the church after services.
Passing the farm section in this wonderful valley.

Thank you WKS, I had forgotten that one. It is a consist by Mario Almeda at the El Paso Train Club. Being adjacent to Juarez, Mexico we get to enjoy a lot of Mexican model rail. Prior to the recent overhaul of Mexican roads, I was always intrigued by the "baling wire and bubble gum" approach to keeping things running. Now a lot of track is ripped out and it is a lot of terminal to terminal container shipping.

Thank you. That GG1 is actually mine along with all the cars it's pulling. The other loco and rolling stock was someone else running on that layout.

On the Bridge. One of my earliest digital attempts at model rail photography. I like the way it is grainy, like an impressionistic painting. It reminds me of my first railfan trip to Hackensack, NJ on a rainy November day in 1975- a day that cemented my love of all good things on rails. The irony of getting a great shot is that one can take scores of blah pictures, and the one that pops is typically accidental, at least for me. Back in the day, shooting rolls of film was pretty pricey for a 15 year old kid with an Instamatic, now I can shoot thousands of frames and it doesn't cost a dime!

My family and I took the trolley to the local burger joint the other day. The service was impossibly slow, and then we found the reason: they were bringing in the cows to make our hamburger.
Like a lot of modelers, I like putting in a bit of whimsy.

A hike in the Pinewood gorge area gave me an opportunity to photograph the daily Brentwood Valley Flyer passing thru Cherry Valley California.
Scenic areas for some astonishing photos.
Considered photographing the train by the tunnel areas.
Decided this area best for photography due to adequate sun angle.
Train passing thru Cherry Valley station.
Train had coaches from different railroad companies.
Nice that companies share their equipment for better service to all passengers.
This area proves that quality rather than quantity rules here. A trip to the gorge area may only show one or two trains daily. Scenic quality makes the trip worthwhile.

Palmer is a lovely spot. Used to pick MacIntosh apples for home made pies in that area. I recollect Palmer has some odd sort of Y arrangement there for to reach Amherst by Amtrak from Boston. I loved standing next to the motorman watching the rails slide beneath us. Here my Sanka hopper runkles its way across desert scenery, a charming gift from Papaleo. Taken at the Mall show today. One of my favorite pieces, among many well love Tyco cars.
